How soon we can renew British passport

Apologies in advance if this is a repeat post or sent under the wrong category. My query is - How soon we can renew the British passport? Reason - I read somewhere that after 50 years of age, the passport is issued for 5 years rather than 10 years. If that is the case - I will be 50 in 3 months and ...

Re: British Passport expiring soon, any issue during travel?

thanks secret.simon for placing this under right category.
Still looking reply for any issue I might face, UK perspective is fine as you have suggested as well.

Do I have to get passport renewed before travel?
Do I have to apply for fresh OCI ?? this is time taking process as I know.

Thanks,
Ali

Route to PR for student

Apologies if I am writing my query under the wrong section.
One of my friend got a chance to pursue his PhD in UK, he just wanted to know route for PR if he take it forward. I believe time to spend in UK as student will count as well.

Student for ILR

Hi

One of my friend got admission in one of UK’s university, he just wanted to know the path to ILR going forward. Time when he will start his work would be considered only for way to ILR OR time he will spend as student could be included as well.

Thanks,
Ali
