Re: Name change - Spouse Visa

Just to add to this, my question is that my wife took my first name as her surname, would this cause any issues?

Also she has a visa until May 2017, when we would have to apply for FLR. What preparation can i do before then? I heard the english requirement is A2 now?

Name change - Spouse Visa

Hi, My wife came to the UK 1.5 years ago on a spouse visa in her maiden name. Her passport expired a few months later, so we got a new passport with her married name. However she decided to take my first name as her surname , instead of my surname. Can we still use the marriage certificate as proof?...

Re: Help needed for further leave to remain

Yes i am a British citizen, and my son was born recently in the UK, so i guess he is not included? Wish the rules were clear, been worrying about this recently!

So i just need to meet the £18600 requirement? Only £100 short lol, may have to ask for a small payrise :)

Help needed for further leave to remain

Hi, My wife came on a 2.5 year spouse visa which was granted in Sept 2014, and will expire on May 2017. Our current income is salaried £18,500. I also get working/child tax credits, child benefit and housing benefit on top, but i guess this can't be used. All benefits are in my name only, apart from...

Re: Working tax credits

As strange as it may seem, both working tax credits and child tax credits must be claimed in joint names. This won't affect your wife's status under the rules . It will if they accept the second adult element of working tax credits before their first child is born. They claim in both names as his w...

Re: Working tax credits

So i can apply for working tax credit in both names, but not receive the second adult thing? How do i stop that from happening? Do i tell them my wife isn't allowed public funds on the application form?

Re: visa/carers allowance advice

Yeah you can use just benefits that you receive as long as it is higher than the income support level (i.e adequate maintenance = income support you, partner and kids would get) minus accommodation costs. But you first need to calculate adequate maintenance for you. Im afraid i don't know the income...

Re: Maybe some good news?

Thanks! Just two things. Firstly my wifes TB test expired as its been a year since application. The lady from BHC said its fine to submit an expired TB test, but obviously get a valid one for travel. Does this seem right? Secondly, do we need to make an appointment to submit passport to Gerrys? If s...

Re: Maybe some good news?

Sounds like good news, likely the appeal has lapsed following an ECM reconsideration. Hopefully :) But what i'm upset with, along many other people i suspect, is they had 6 months to reconsider their rejection from when i appealed (Feb) up until June. We had no response. Its only now when we are wa...

Hi, My wife's visa got refused in Jan 2014 due to financial reasons, well actually due to the visa office not assessing my application properly as they missed out my cash savings! We appealed in Feb 2014 and have been waiting for a hearing date. Well my wife got a call from the BHC in ISB saying tha...
