Re: Claiming Housing Benefit

Hi everyone. Scenario: Husband is on spouse visa. Couple have moved into rented property paying their own rent. Is the wife (who is British) allowed to claim housing benefit, and if so, will this affect her husbands visa extension? Has anyone experienced this situation? Assuming there are no childr...

I guess we will only know when we apply for the next visa! If you got a convincing answer please let ...

Re: FLR Granted

If you don't live alone, you don't qualify for CTR. CR001, Okay then, I thought the name for council tax benefit was CRT. So I was wrong. I know I don't qualify for that. And I know I can apply and get council tax benefit. But is this a good idea to do, as when it comes to apply for ILR, this might...

Re: FLR Granted

CTR is Council Tax Reduction isn't it? I used to get this when I was getting Housing Benefit, it was a full reduction actually. My council tax was issued as nil as I was out of work. CTR isn't referring to %25 single discount as far as I'm concerned but the new name of Council Tax benefit. I could b...

Re: FLR Granted

Hi Casa, We don't have children so I don't know anything about child benefit. Today I went to my CAB, as usual they don't know anything I don't already know. I wanted to ask about CTR and whether or not it would cause a problem on the ILR process ( as I explained above, I wouldn't get the %25 single...

Working for a company based abroad for FLR(M)

Hello all,

Does anyone know if living in the UK while working for a company based abroad ( working from home in the UK) is accepted as employment for meeting FLR(M) financial requirement? I can't find any info on the gov website about this.

Thanks

FLR financial requirement question

Hi guys, Just confused about employment status for eligibility. I'm British and working part time as an employee. My husband is on his first spouse visa and self employed. I know we need to prove income of £18600 together and we get just over this amount. Since my husband is self employed, his incom...

Thank you physicskate. It's just shocking that the Home Office gives you wrong answers. No point in calling them then.

Re: Financial Requirement for FLR

Thank you for your prompt answer. So that bit is clear now. And if we put our savings into a National bonds account(abroad) and if it's accessible and can be redeem any time, will is be acceptable. I mean does it count as 'cash savings'? It's actually a bond but can be converted into cash instantly....

Re: Financial Requirement for FLR

So I read the link 1.7, there is a lot of info for the first visa and the Indefinite Remain but not much for FLR.

We are going to apply for FLR. If we want to show cash savings only and not any salary, then does the first £16000 taken into account?

Thanks again

Re: Financial Requirement for FLR

I have a new question relating to this and my apologies if it has already been answered elsewhere. I was offered a new part time job yesterday as a nanny and my income jointly with my husband will exceed the required £18600 a year. The thing is the family I'll be working for is not keen to pay my ta...

Re: Financial Requirement for FLR

Hello all, I looked everywhere but I can't seem to find any useful information. My husband will be applying for his FLR to get his next 30 months spouse visa next year. If our combined earnings is not enough, instead of using this, can we show cash savings abroad? Obviously the currency wouldn't be...

Thanks for your reply. But won't they ask if I was ok to support him when he first got his visa and now I can't support him without the help of public funds? We are both looking for work by the way..

Re: Dutch embassy refused visa

It's been a year but I have an update on this topic and I will put it down. The Dutch Embassy called me about 6 months after what had happened with apologies for the initial misinformation, for being so late to get back to me and for dealing with it unprofessionally. I was told that I would get all ...

Hello guys, I've searched the board but couldn't see the answer I'm looking for, and if it has already been discussed and I missed it, my apologies in advance. Re: Criminal Record and Citizenship

Hi, thanks for writing back.

I'm not sure if he will have a criminal record, I just like to think the worst case scenario. We will email TFL tomorrow and ask them to settle the case with a fine out of court. Hopefully they are only after money and will accept it.

Criminal Record and Citizenship

Hello all, My husband used my oyster card by mistake and got caught on the bus. Now TFL is sent us a letter with a court date. He will probably be found guilty and have a criminal record. He is on 30 months spouse visa at the moment( the first part-he got it in Feb 2014) and I'm British. So my quest...

Re: Dutch embassy refused visa

No I haven't let them know of course. He wouldn't talk to me if I did or not let me recorded. I needed a proof and I have it now. Thanks for the warning though. Let's see if they put me in prison for this :)
