Re: Joint Citizenship Application For Mother & Daughter?

Just to update on this. We have just finished submitting a joint AN and MN1 online application for my wife and my step-daughter, We just selected child under 18 when adding the second applicant. The fees charged at the end were correct £1330 for the AN and £1012 for the MN1 plus the biometrics fees....

Re: Joint Citizenship Application For Mother & Daughter?

We are in the same position. My wife got her ILR last month and we want to apply for citizenship for her and my step-daughter who got ILE in 2014 when they first came to the UK. If we have to fill out separate online applications for my wife's AN and my step-daughter's MN1, do we have to wait until ...

Spouse visa renewal questions

My wife and stepdaughter came to live with me in the UK in 2014. I am a British Citizen by birth. I have a few specific questions I am trying to find answers to, and wonder if you can help: 1. My wife’s current passport containing her visa is in her maiden name. Her passport is not due to expire unt...

Home Office Visa Contact

Hello,

I have a whole list of questions I'd like to get definitive answers to, regarding visa renewals for my wife and stepdaughter.

I've not found the advice line number very helpful, does anyone know of a Home Office email or postal address I could write to to get questions answered?

Re: British Citizenship Query

Maybe , maybe not!
But looking at the criteria I'd deem the decision to be correct.
Looking through your posts I think your daughter's circumstances appear to be very different.

Re: British Citizenship Query

Hi CR001, I do understand the point you are making, in fact that was the decision we were expecting. So getting ILE for her was a welcome bonus. But looking at the criteria as written above, I can see in my step-daughter's particular circumstances she fits the criteria for direct ILE to be granted a...

Re: British Citizenship Query

Just following up this post on the validity of ILE. From this website weblink removed it states: Children who have a parent or parents who are settled in the UK can join them here and be granted indefinite leave to enter/remain directly. There are however several conditions that need to be satisfied...

Re: Leave To Remain - Various Queries

For information, in this scenario the test result can be reused, even if it has expired. As confirmed in the following link: https://www.gov.uk/english-language/approved-english-language-qualifications Of course, as has already been pointed out by CR001 and Vinny, the ILR requirement could change fr...

Re: Leave To Remain - Various Queries

Thanks Vinny, So as long as the ILR requirements don't change from B1, you're saying the same certificate could be used for both visas? It's the two year validity that is confusing me. Noticed your user name had "2001". What's your Immigration history? Nothing significant about the 2001. I...

Re: Leave To Remain - Various Queries

As I said, B1 is the requirement NOW for ILR. We cannot guess what the rules or requirements will be in 2019 when she applies for ILR. It could change, it might not change. Thanks CR001. I am aware that B1 is the current requirement for ILR. Maybe I'm not making it clear. As my wife will have to ta...

Re: Leave To Remain - Various Queries

Yes, it will apply to her. B1 is applicable for ILR as the rules stand at this moment, they can of course change this in the future. Thanks CR001. What I'm unclear about is if my wife takes the B1 test now in readiness for the Leave to Remain visa. Would she need to take a second test for the ILR?,...

Passport Expiry for visa application

Is there any minimum number of months there should be left on a passport until expiry when applying for a Further Leave to remain visa?

My wife's passport expires Jan 2108 and she will be renewing her visa in August 2017.

Leave To Remain - Various Queries

My wife got her initial Leave to Enter settlement visa in Nov 2014. She passed a City & Guilds A1 certificate with distinction, which she used for this visa. I have just seen that from October 2016 the further Leave to Remain visa requires English at A2 level. So as she will be renewing in Augus...

Re: British Citizenship Query

In the observations it states:

"Indefinite Leave to enter the UK"

The valid until date is 1/08/2017

But from what I read in the guidance notes this date is not an expiry date on an ILE, but a date by which the person must enter the country.

Re: British Citizenship Query

Just checked the exact wording on the visas: My wife's states visa type "Spouse/CP - Spouse/CP of (my name) My step-daughter's states visa type "Visa Settlement acc mother to join father (my name). If it was a mistake, where do we stand, can the visa be revoked? Is there an email address I...

Re: British Citizenship Query

Don't know much about ILE but sense that mother and daughter may have first entered UK at different times so daughter was given ILE (but then again OP mentions Nov 2014) (?) No, they both applied for the visa at the same time. The applications were submitted together. And they both entered the UK t...

Re: British Citizenship Query

Thanks CR001. Are you sure she has ILE? Have you adopted her? As she is not your child, she should have leave to remain in line with her mother and follow the same process as her mother? Well her visa clearly states Indefinite Leave To Enter. We were not expecting this. I have not adopted her offici...

Re: Maiden Name & Married Name advice.

Thank you for the advice. We did enquire about changing her passport at the embassy here in the UK, but they told us we have to go back to my wife's home country to do it. We aren't planning on going back until next year, so if we can we will do it. But as we are only going to be there for a couple ...

Maiden Name & Married Name advice.

My wife came to the uk in 2014 with a leave to enter spouse visa. This will be due for renewal next year. I would like some advice on the issue of having documents in both her maiden name and married name. We have a mix of bank statements, bills, NHS letters, electoral roll etc, which we can use for...

Opening a UK bank account

My wife has just arrived in the UK on her Leave to enter spouse visa. We planned to open a simple joint current account for daily spending etc. But we are having no joy in doing so. My current bank told me in branch that she will have to live here for one year before she can apply for a bank account...

Visa Success!

Just had the great news that my wife's and stepdaughter's settlement visas have been granted yesterday. My wife's visa is the expected spouse visa valid for 33 months. But confusingly, my stepdaughters visa which also has the same expiry date, has "Indefinite leave to enter" written on it....
