Hi yorkking, I think I replied to most of your questions in my earlier post. I still have not received my acknowledgement letter, but as the fee was debited from my account, I know they have my application. I was told during my NCS appointment that it could take 10-14 working days just to receive th...

Hi yorkking - They didn't give any indication, other than to say that some applications were being approved in under a month. Having followed a few forums, I'm working on the basis that there is a big rush on applications before the 1 November deadline, and with additional councils operating the NCS...

Sorry for my late reply - I've been swampped with work since Tuesday! Appointment was fine - in fact it was, somewhat disappointingly, a non-event. I showed up with all the documents I mentioned above, plus a copy of my UK paper/photo drivers license. I first handed over my application form, which t...

No - it is most certainly NOT required at all; I simply asked for one from my employer just to have it available, basically as an endorsement of my application.

No problem at all John :) I was physically in the UK on the 6th of October 2000 -- my first exit from the UK was not until November 2000. I don't have a copy of my birth certificate -- I've been trying to get a certified copy from the registrar of my place of birth, but they have been uncooperative ...

John and basis - thank you both for your replies. Based on John's recommendation in a previous thread, I'm planning to stay in the UK for the five days or so after my NCS application is received -- basically until they send a letter back confirming receipt of my application. I hadn't noticed the lis...

Final check for Naturalisation application documents

I've got an appointment on Tuesday morning at the Wandsworth Registry Office to use the NCS application process for my naturalisation application. I just want to check that I've got the correct documents for my application -- any advice for those that have gone through this would be helpful! Documen...

Naturalisation questions

Hi all, I've been following this forum for a couple years, and its been a great resource. I'm applying for naturalisation on October 4 (NCS appointment at Wandsworth already booked) after having been in the country for five full years, the past year with an ILR. I have a few questions I just want to...

Thanks for both replies :) There are two reasons I wanted to include my P60's. First, for some reason, my companies registered tax office changed around the second year of my employment. Should I list them both? Secondly, when I moved here I had no idea that I needed an NI number - in fact it wasn't...

Advice on getting copies of P60's for naturalisation?

After reading extensively on this and a few other forums, it seems that its a good idea (though not a requirement) to submit your P60's with your application for naturalisation. I've noticed several posters who brought their P60's to their NCS appointment, and they were accepted as part of the appli...

Just to follow-up on this, and perhaps give some advice for others in a similar predicament. For starters, I decided not to use the solicitor that gave me the bad advice. I've now managed to account for nearly every day of my life from my date of entry in late September 2000 through present-day. I s...

Thanks. I do agree with you both that its better to list as much as possible. Certainly I would never suggest to anyone to lie or given inaccurate information! For the dates I don't have wholly accurate records, I was thinking of listing dates as approximate as possible - I've been trawling through ...

UK Absences and Application for Nationality

I've received some conflicting advice and need some guidance. I'm in the process of putting together my application for British nationality, as I am close to the five year mark during which I have been in the UK (entered on 2 year work permit, received 3 year extension, at 3 years 11 months of time ...

Slightly OT: Life in the UK book for sale

Apologies for a thread that is slightly off-topic, but... I ended up with two copies of Life in the UK: A Journey to Citizenship - the book that will form the basis for the citizenship tests that are due to be introduced later this year. As I only need one, I'm offering the second copy for sale, at ...
