Netherlands resetting time period for naturalisation

I applied for Dutch naturalization at the embassy in London in Dec 2016, before the threatened law changes were supposed to come into effect. At that time, the timescale for a decision to be made was 12 months, as all documents had been provided to them. I received a letter early in March 2017 to co...

Re: Can I get a Dutch Passport?

been looking into this for a friend, and high level goes as follows: you can't get a dutch passport as you are not Dutch. For you to be Dutch, your dad had to be Dutch when you were born. If you voluntarily acquire a foreign nationality, even as a minor, you automatically lose your Dutch nationality...

Joining EU spouse

The EU Directive states non EEA spouse doesnt need a Schengen if travelling with orjoining EEA spouse. So its easy enough to prove if travelling together, but has anyone ever travelled alone to join the EU spouse in the EU, and what kind of documentation do you need to prove that the EU national is ...

Passport validity requirements

I am a South African national, living in UK as EEA spouse. My passport expires at the end of the year. For a lot of countries, you need 6 months remaining on you passport to enter a country. Is this still true if I travel with my Dutch spouse? My understanding is that I am to be treated as 'Dutch' f...

Re: HELP! ABOUT FRENCH SCHENGEN VISA TRAVELING EUROPE

I was in a similar situation: had a French Schengen, with the French trip sheduled the week before flying into Amsterdam. Due to ferry schedule changes I couldn't go to France. I had no issues travelling into Amsterdam with the French Schengen. You will however have to use the visa to visit France a...

Re: Married South African couple, different Schengen visas?

If you know Spain is difficult, perhaps you could consider a trip to France, and getting a French Schengen. The South Africans I know all got 6 months multi entry visas first time, and the 1-5 year visas on second application. Although, this was all pre Paris November, so they might be less giving n...

Change in plans after getting visa

Hi, What happens if you obtain a (French) Schengen, and then due to matters beyond your control (like weather), the weekend trip gets cancelled. If you then fly to a different Schengen entry point (e.g. Netherlands) a week later, will they give you drama if you haven't been to France as first point ...

Do I need a Schengen visa?

Hi all, I'm living in Jersey at present, and have a Jersey wet stamp that shows that I am a family member of an EEA national. From reading the forums, I know that I can apply for a visa if I want, and it will be free and take less than 15 working days (but I don't have to, we can prove he is my husb...

Re: EEA Family Permits and TB Testing

Just came over from South Africa on EEA FP, and was not asked for TB test. Other people who travelled at the same time (work visas), had to do them though.

Jersey wet stamp

Hi, I'm living on Jersey, arriving with an EEA FP. Went to immigration today to apply for my 5-year extension. They did not place a sticker inside my passport, but instead applied what they call a wet stamp, which says "family member of an EEA national". It does not include my photo, and d...
