One more question I had. Do we have to actually send the Old Passport with the extension application? It is now expired and has my old student visa from 2008 on it.

I think the employer can't give you a maintenance letter if you are filing a Tier2 Extension under the same employer since its for the support for the 1st month of employment Only.

Its a bit confusing on the website. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Just to reconfirm what you had said about being able to apply for Tier 2 General Extension for 3Yrs/COS end date anytime before your visa expiry date.

Is it still valid after the recent changes to Tier 2 General rules post April-2014 ?

Can the 5 Years towards the ILR be a combination of 2.5 Years of Tier2 General + 2.5 Years of Tier 2 General DEPENDENT ? or it has to be the Main Applicant only ?

I am currently on Tier2 General (Dependent) but would like to switch to Tier2 General without changing my employer. Does my employer need to do a Market Labour Test ?

Also, is this a fairly straightforward process? how to go about it ?
