Re: Getting married whilst on ILR visa

If she changes her name in her Japanese passport, then you need to update the BRP. If she does not then there is no need. Sorry, I'm maybe missing something. But if we marry and she takes my surname, isn't she meant to change her passport? Or would just whenever it renews be acceptable? The same wi...

She may also continue to use her maiden name.
My fiance only has a Japanese passport and British ILR (as Japan doesn't allow dual nationality). So I assume we either keep her maiden name on both the passport and BRP card or change on both? Which would be a hassle for sure. :?

Re: Getting married whilst on ILR visa

Why do you need to update her Biometrics card ???! There is no legal requirement to change your name on official documents. You can use your married name along with your marriage certificate without any changes in the UK Thanks for the reply. My only thought was because on that Gov UK link it state...

Getting married whilst on ILR visa

Hi, My Japanese fiance is on a valid ILR via. We intend to get married soon but want to make sure we update everything accordingly. The only thing I can think of is the BRP (or BRC - I get the two confused). She has biometric card so that will need updating. I found this website page on Gov UK about...

Re: Advice for renewing ILR BRP card

All BRP cards must be replaced after the end of 2024 as that is the deadline for all EU biometric cards to be upgraded to a new version. The fees change all the time. See the fee link on top of the forum. All applications are processed via UKVCAS and the biometrics must be enrolled at an appointmen...

Advice for renewing ILR BRP card

Hi, My partner completed her ILR application and got her new BRP card today - hooray! However I've noticed it only last 4 years - I was expecting it to have to be renewed after a longer period than that  On the documentation she received, it doesn't say what to do to renew it so I Googled and ...

Re: IHS Surcharge or ILR application!?

I have found that I'm using the wrong flippin' form. I've found the correct one now but what a hassle! They don't make this easy! There should be just 1 application portal and then you select which visa you are applying for from there - not have to go through the maze of the HMRC site and then click...

Re: IHS Surcharge on ILR application!?

Hi all, My partner and I have completed the Five Year Partner Route and are now applying for ILR online. I've nearly completed the online form (I think - it's horrendous and not logical, but oh well), and it took us to the IHS surcharge site and is asking us to pay £1000!? I thought there was no sur...

Re: Life in the UK Test Centre - Bristol

I have done my test there. Don't worry about the google maps, I thinks it's just too old as the entrance was looking a bit different. You will find it. Just go a bit earlier to be sure, they will the test sooner if you are already there. I had to wait in a queue! Can you describe what the entrance ...

Life in the UK Test Centre - Bristol

Hi all, My partner has a Life in the UK test tomorrow in Bristol but I can't find the location on Google Maps at all. The address given to us is: Creswicke House, 9-11 Small Street Ground Floor Bristol BS1 1DB I can find Small Street easily enough - and luckily it IS a small street, but I can't see ...

Entering back into the UK on a new passport?

Hi all, Have been trying to find out about this but not such luck. My partner is on the 5 year route. In December we will apply for ILR having completed the 5 years. In May we're going to visit her family in Japan but he passport expires in January 2020. I understand you need 6 months left on your p...

Has anyone notified HMRC if they change their address?

Hi All, My Japanese partner is on the 5 year route and has had a Biometric card (BRP) for some 4 years now. We've changed addresses a few times and did the next 2.5 year application which went through fine. It just dawned on my earlier today - am I meant to let HMRC know if we change our address? We...

Time allowed outside UK on 5 year route?

Hi all, My Japanese partner will be applying for her ILR at the end of 2019. We're planning to have a holiday to Japan this spring and she would like to stay for a while - may around 2 months. I just wanted to check if there are any limits or recommendations on how long not to stay outside the UK? I...

Re: 'Your friends and family'

What about social media friends , e.g. from facebook, etc.? Some people have hundreds or thousands or more. How do they define "friend"? Exactly, it's far too vague. I think I will just enter her direct family. If anyone has any suggestions or can remember what they entered for this I'd b...

'Your friends and family'

I'm extending my Japanese fiance's spousal visa and this time doing it via the online form. (2.5 years ago it was a printed form). I'm sure this is a new question - in the Personal Information section, there is a question which states: What family or friends do you have in the country where you were...

Increase in annual income requirement?

Hi all, my Japanese fiance is living with me (British) in the UK on a partner visa. I found this article on The Independent that says that the current annual minimum requirement is £20,800 and it would be increased to £35,000 from April. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/theresa-may-urge...

Marrying on a Partner Visa?

Hi all, My fiancee, who is Japanese, has been living in the UK for 4 years. She finished her degree here last year and we applied and succeeded in getting a partner visa. However, I can't seem to find anywhere on the internet any information about whether we're allowed to get married on this visa? I...

Re: Purchase History?

What has purchases got to do with your application? All they want to see is your income being the same with your payslips. Your question isn't very clear tbh. Apologies. I mean if they saw that someone had way more outgoings than income, would they be concerned? Or whether they could see that each ...

Purchase History?

Dear All, I'm just wondering, when applying for a FLRM, does the Home Office look at the purchases made in those six months of statements? Do they have that right and is there a section we have to sign to declare them permission to do so? Would those purchases affect their judgement? I'm also wonder...

It says that we should receive acknowledgement of them receiving it but after 3 days I haven't received anything. It has been signed for as I can check it o...

Re: Apply to remain in the UK with family - Question

Yes, that is what I am looking at but it doesn't say when this needs to be applied for. I'm assuming that once a visa is granted then my partner will need to get it done at a post office that has the facility?
