HMRC debt

I recently discovered that HMRC have got me listed as having underpaid tax for financial year 2018. They have spread the payments to be deducted from my salary every month over the next year. As I am due to apply for ILR, will that have any impact on my application. Is it safer to pay off all the ta...

Re: ILR in 2018

Once you complete 5 years on Tier 2, you can apply for ILR. Actually you can apply up to 28 days earlier than completing 5 years on Tier 2. At that point, you will require a letter from your current employer stating that you are required for the foreseeable future. It doesn''t really matter as to w...

Re: ILR in 2018

Every year I change sponsors and go to a new place. I am planning on doing the same this year in September. The new visa that i get will expire most probably by September or early October 2018. I will complete 5 years of continuous stay on Tier 2 by 22nd October 2018. (My ILR Date). Considering tha...

Re: ILR in 2018

I am an NHS doctor and my contracts last 6 months or 1 year normally. Even British doctors have to move jobs every year as they go to new rotations. I am not in an official training programme so I just re-apply for a job every year. I was hoping to move to a new job in October 2018 with my ILR. Can ...

COS start date

I have BRP valid till 18/09/2016, there was delay in new COS issuance from new sponsor (as I am changing jobs), so they will issue this week. My new job start date is 05/09/2016, They said they are happy for me to start work on 05/09 as long as I had applied for a Tier 2 visa as my old BRP was still...

Re: Going Part-time on Tier 2

According to my SOC code my 39 hour working week salary should be 30k at least. My contract states my 40 hour per week salary is 37,822.
Is this an acceptable pay for eligibility for Tier 2?

Re: Going Part-time on Tier 2

I just want to know what minimum hours can I work and still be eligible for Tier 2 COS.
I am sure there are many other professionals, IT etc that still qualify for Tier 2 visas without having to work ridiculous hours.

Re: Going Part-time on Tier 2

I work in the NHS and it's under a lot of strain at the moment. My shifts are really very hectic and I can work up to 72 hours a week some weeks. I am trying to pass some exams that I need to study for very very well. I have previously failed these exams for not studying enough. They are important f...

Going Part-time on Tier 2

Hi I am in the third year of my Tier 2. I will be eligible for ILR in end of 2018. I am starting a new job in September this year. I want to go part-time for this. I will not fall below 18000 pounds threshold required for me to stay in the UK. I am wondering if there are any consequences for this in...

Re: Tier 2 visa holder as property developer

Thanks for your reply. The point I was coming towards is that it I am within my rights as Tier 2 visa holder to buy as many houses as I like and sell them for any profit that I deem fit. And I can do all of this without ever registering myself as a company. As far as I know, you don't have to be eve...

Re: Tier 2 visa holder as property developer

And what about renovating a house by myself and then selling it for a profit. A house that I don't live in personally. I don't intend to let it but it's my second dwelling. Can I not own a holiday home as well as my own house? Can I not pay CGT or other taxes on the profit on the sale of the 2nd hou...

Re: Tier 2 visa holder as property developer

I don't know the answer, hence the post in this forum.
What would I tell HRMC if I sold my personal house and got a profit on it? Is selling your own house illegal as well?

Tier 2 visa holder as property developer

I am currently Tier 2 visa holder with about 2 and a half years left to be eligible for ILR. I was wondering if anyone knows that I can buy properties in the UK and later sell them for a profit, I would, of course, be paying all the taxes and legal fees. Would something like this be allowed? It;s no...

Re: Tier 2 & Locum/ Supplemetary work

Sure you can. You can work anywhere in the UK. You can work through an agency or can register with hospitals directly. The only thing to worry about is that your current sponsors might not like you doing it as you are in a training post. Better check your contract and your supervisors because you wi...

Re: working while visa applied for

you can only take on supplementary employment while you are still working for your current sponsor. Once you get your new visa you can continue working for them until the work start date given in the new CoS. Your two messaeges seem contradictory. Last working day is 28th of February and new COS st...

xxxxxxxxx is the name of the umbrella company formed by XYZ and who are offering their services. I thought it was just another method of PAYE payment until I visited this forum.

Re: working while visa applied for

@manci I wanted to do some locum shifts in other hospitals while waiting for my new visa to arrive. I am allowed to work upto 20 hours over and above my normal work every week. My new Cos starts on the 2nd Of March but it's unlikely that I can start by then. Does that mean I cannot work at all after...

Re: Locum doctor, umbrella company

Thanks for the input Frontier Mole. I am perfectly happy with locuming on PAYE basis. The only worrying thing was whether I need to file tax returns at the end of the tax year or need an accountant to calculate my taxes if I decide to locum in a hospital separate from where I work primarily. I wonde...

working while visa applied for

Sorry if this sounds like a silly question. I have recently applied for a change of sponsorship to UK home office. My current visa was still valid until September 2015. However I have now resigned from this job and fulfilling my notice period. I still have yet to receive my new visa. My question is ...

Locum doctor, umbrella company

Hello I am a doctor working in the NHS under Tier 2 visa. I can work up to 20 hours a week as a locum, I have registered with a locum agency who have advised me to register with an umbrella company for my locum payments and have said there are many doctors who can't declare themselves as limited com...

Re: Time line Tier 2

Thank you so much manci. You are always here to help. I have experience with both premium and postal services and I was surprised by the fast turn-around of the postal service when I extended by contract in December. Conversely, when I applied for a premium service, they were quite rude and unhelpfu...
