Re: General Discussion During Naturalisation Application Pro

A Biometrics question. My husband has already has it, as he had it done for ILR. Will he have to do it again? I'm hoping not as it only hold up the application and we don't have a place near us that does it.

Re: ILR postal applications (excluding SET(LR))

The frustrating thing is if we hadn't have been told not to bother with writing he would have done it! Our MP says that with her help our case will be reviewed in 10 days. The settlement checking service have given a statement that on the day we applied the home office told them our scores were fine...

Re: ILR postal applications (excluding SET(LR))

IELTS results were as follows: Listening :4.5 Reading :5 writing :0 (didn't appempt as home office said not to as it wasn't needed) speaking :5 Overall score 3.5 They are now saying you need a 4 or higher on everything and a 4 or higher as an overall score. The day we applied they said you only need...

Re: ILR postal applications (excluding SET(LR))

Hi guys Just to give you all an update on out situation. Our ILR was refused because the HO said we hadn't met the English test requirements. Be careful those who are using IELTS certificates. The settlement checking service and our MP are backing us in applying for re-consideration for two reasons....

Re: ILR postal applications (excluding SET(LR))

Thanks guys Today I have had to do a written request for reconsideration. This has two main points 1) UKBA told the Settlement checking service that our IELTS was fine. 2) even if it wasn't why didn't they just use the city and guilds English pass certificate? It's another 3 page letter with 14 page...

Re: ILR postal applications (excluding SET(LR))

I've also just done a freedom of information request search and found a letter from the HO saying that you could get an overall score of 2.5 or lower in the IELTS English exam, but as long as you got 4 or above in speaking and the same on listening you would be fine. My husband got 5 in both and an ...

Re: ILR postal applications (excluding SET(LR))

Applied 07 March 2014 I know I'm just so frustrated. I'm a teacher so I'm off for 6 weeks now and would love to go and see the family before our baby is born. I can't fly after September the 1st, so feel the days waisting away. It's also causing tensions at home now as my hubby wanted to go to a PE...

Re: ILR postal applications (excluding SET(LR))

So guys we now really need your help. We included in our application 2 English Pass certificates. I was a bit unsure about the IELTS one, so I included the City and Guilds one that I knew fit the requirements. The Settlement Checking Service said both were fine and so include both. Today our ILR was...

Re: ILR postal applications (excluding SET(LR))

A story on Radio 4 this morning about the passport delays and strikes implied that people are being pulled from other areas of the home office to speed up passports. Could be why we have suddenly gone from a 4.5 month wait to now what's looking like a 5.5 -6 month wait for decisions.

Re: ILR postal applications (excluding SET(LR))

I'm sorry I can't answer your questions about working tax credits. For biometrics they send you a letter and you go to the nearest post office that offers that service (they don't all do it) You don't need an appointment but you can't go until the letter comes. Happy Eid to all my Muslim friends on ...

Re: ILR postal applications (excluding SET(LR))

Askim these call centre staff at UKBA will use all these terms: 'that application is under process' " application is pending' etc etc the fact is that they have very limited information available on their screen too so not much their fault. thats why i dont see any point calling as the most fa...

Re: ILR postal applications (excluding SET(LR))

Hello All, Firstly, I want to say thank-you all for posting your application dates and discussions. I have always been a read only member but I vowed I would share my visa story to give others hope. We applied 5th March 2014. The same day my husbands settlement visa expired. Long story short, we be...

I completely agree. If it takes this long for us then I dead to think about other applicants not as fortunate as us. The system is not right.

Re: ILR postal applications (excluding SET(LR))

Anyone else agree with me that 6 months is too long? I'm looking at starting a change.org petition to get it debated in parliament. If I did this would you sign?

This is our lives they have in their hands and to have to put them on hold for this long is not fair.

Re: ILR postal applications (excluding SET(LR))

I phoned again today. Got the standard your application is being processed. They started processing March applications on the 8th of July. They would not be pushed on how long it takes, only that it should be within 6 months :-(
