As both Academic and General IELTS are acceptable for HSMP extension, which one might be more appropriate?
I feel IELTS General would be appropriate. Any thoughts?

How long it takes to pass the IELTS test?

Any idea on how long one needs to prepare for the IELTS exam? I have done my degree, PG all in English. But my degree certificate did not specify the medium of instruction. I can go and request the University to issue a letter, but this may take many weeks to get the response. I was wondering why no...

mcu,

HSMP Extension Under new Regulation since 8/11/2006

I work in a composite company arrangement where payment is made as Salary and dividends for tax saving purposes. It appears now that this is not helping me for extension. Should I ask my umbrella company to treat all my income as salary now?

Can anyone please advise.

Working as Contractor - Pension Contributions

I read from a web site that the contributions to the pension fund are deductable from tax. When these contributions will be returned to the contractor? Is there any minimum lock in period? In case we leave the country, will this be paid back to us?

Contractor Rate and VAT

A company offered a daily rate to me for three months.

(1) When signing the contract, I see a term VAT. should the rate be exclusive of VAT or inclusive of VAT. Who pays VAT?

(2) Daily rate means normally how many woking hours are included? How many days we can work in a month?
