Re: NCS experience

That's why I am not going to use the NCS - seems like unfortunately a lot of their staff do not seem to have a clue of what they are doing and often request additional documents which aren't really needed. It's essentially a photocopying service which also provides a very basic sanity check of the a...

Re: citizenship with debts

It is of course your choice but if I were you I would use the money to clear the debt as you currently have a somewhat secure status with your DCPR/PR card. Then, in the time leading up to Brexit (it will take at least 2 years from the moment article 50 is triggered) you can save money again and app...

Re: Got son's passport directly without the Citizenship lett

I guess as your son is a minor there won't be a ceremony and the certificate should hopefully arrive in the post very soon. It should really have come before the PP though, so may have been lost in the post if you're really unlucky :/ Maybe give it a few days and then follow up with the HO, the cert...

Re: Form AN - Evidence of lawful residence for EEA Nationals

P60s, council tax bills, utility bills or bank statements can all be used to prove lawful residence.
If you were working full-time, P60s on their own are definitely fine.

Re: Rejected British Citizenship Application

Well, unfortunately, as part of your application you tick to confirm that you have read and understood guide AN (which I believe clearly states the requirement to hold a DCPR not just a registration certificate) so the HO cannot be held accountable. Most unfortunate though, the helpline is completel...

Yes, if you are a naturalised British citizen and listed on the birth certificate as the father, the child born abroad will be British by descent.

Re: How do you guys present your EEA applications?

I didn't go too OCD but organised everything properly to make it as clear and easy as possible for the CW. I had three plastic pouches, one for the application form, one for when I was a worker and one for when I was self-sufficient. Put a label on each pouch to say how I exercised my treaty rights,...

Re: Short EEA (PR) form and required documents

I don't remember but I think I put my first name in this field and then my surname in the other. Anyways, even if done wrong, I'm sure the caseworker can put 2 and 2 together, although with the HO you can of course never be sure :P I think the reason why they ask for 'full name as in your passport' ...

Re: Short EEA (PR) form and required documents

What they want the applicant to prove is that they were residing in the UK throughout the qualifying period. If someone had a full-time job, P60s/employer letters are sufficient as it's impossible to be out of the country whilst working full-time. Bank statements, bills and tenancy agreements are ad...

Re: When to apply for EEA(PR)

You should not send it in advance, send it once you have acquired PR.
I read that someone apparently had success sending it early, however, this was probably luck (and the caseworker not applying the rules properly), I would not risk it if I were you.

Re: Online Application Form for DCPR for EEA

Can you ask to have other original documents returned or just the passport? Not entirely sure on this one, what else do you need to retain? Yes, you can even ask for all of your documents to be returned via the online form. Not sure how this would affect the processing time of your application. Whe...

Re: EU Citizen applying for PR - passport original or copy?

Copies (certified or not) are not usually acceptable - you can request your documents back which usually takes 10-20 working days or else you can apply through the new Passport Return Service where they take certified copies of your passport and you can hold on to the original.

Re: Do we need to register my daughter?

So it suggests, as I read it, that we do not need to register my daughter, that she automatically has British Citizenship. In which case how do we evidence this? She has an Australian passport, but no British passport. Apply for daughter's British passport and submit mother's British passport (if s...

Re: Application for PR or PR card: form EEA (PR) - UpToDate

From looking at this timeline thread, the average now seems to be 4/4.5 months for EEA applicants.
However, there are EEA applicants who had a significantly shorter or longer wait - it's all up to your caseworker, the complexity of your case and, most of all, luck :D.

Re: comprehensive sickness insurance before 20th June 2011

You can, as long as you have paperwork to prove you were looking for jobs (e.g. application acknowledgement emails/letters, invitations to interview etc). Out of interest, why don't you just leave out this one month and start your five-year qualifying period from February when you started work?

Yes, very easy to obtain. You can request one online (https://online.hmrc.gov.uk/shortforms/form/NIStatement) and it usually comes through within a few weeks.

Re: comprehensive sickness insurance before 20th June 2011

Jobseekers don't need CSI, only students and self-sufficient applicants do. The requirement was there before 2011, it just wasn't enforced until then. The only people exempt from the requirement are those who were issued with a Residence Card before 20/06/2011 as a student (there are no transitional...

Re: Citizenship application - evidence of 10 years of NI?

I think it has to do with the good character requirements, to check that applicants have not been working illegally within the last 10 years (which would then lead to a refusal of their application). 10 years if you been in the UK for that long or if not since your arrival in the UK. Ask HMRC for an...
