Re: Brexit has screwed up our baby plans.

I think the member of staff at the Embassy has just given out wrong advice. My child also has German and British citizenships and I am not (yet) British either (just held PR at the time of her birth). The embassy confirmed that any citizenships acquired at birth (no matter if parent actually holds t...

Re: Brexit has screwed up our baby plans.

Right now, as far as Germany is concerned, my daughter was only entitled to acquire British citizenship (as I acquired settled status in the UK after her birth) because 1. Britain is an EU country, (entitlement to parents' citizenships acquired after a child's birth is not automatic except in the c...

Re: NQ Form

If you are, as you state, a British Citizen you can't be issued a confirmation of non-acquisition as you obviously hold BC. And if your country of origin doesn't allow dual citizenship but you became a BC anyways, wouldn't you have lost your country of origin citizenship automatically which means yo...

Yup, I had healthier solutions and can confirm that it was accepted. It's as comprehensive as it gets if you look at what they cover.

Re: Can you be self-sufficient, self-employed at the same ti

I had Aviva and it was fine and accepted as CSI.
It obviously depends on your level of cover but as long as the policy covers you for the majority of circumstances it'll be accepted.
The Aviva representative probably just had no clue what you were talking about and did not want to make any promises.

Re: Born in London in 1983 to Diplomat parents

If her parents werent settled in the UK when she was born, she has no automatic claim to BC. Where does she live now/how long did she live in the UK? She may have a lifelong entitlement to registration if she lived here for the first 10 years of her life..

Re: I can't receive RC at home

You can arrange redelivery online, so far I'd never had to pay for it. You only have to pay if you ask them to deliger it to a post office near you.
You could even arrange it for a Sat morning so you can ensure you'll be home.

I have received my letter of invitation today(23/11/2016) and my ceremony is booked for the 15/12/2016 as this was the council earliest available date. Can I apply for my passport now and if so how? I mean I have not attended the ceremony yet and I want to find out how the process works for me to a...

Re: Fast track SAR for PR date?

I did submit a fast-track one in spring this year, before submitting the EEA PR, as I wanted to find out what information they held about my absences from the UK, landing cards etc. Do you or anyone else know whether it's to submit another one now? This was also my second SAR so should be fine - I ...

Re: Fast track SAR for PR date?

I never asked for the PR date specifically, I worried it would confuse them too much^^ After all, the staff working in the SAR unit may not have any immigration-related knowledge, that's not really their job. On the docs that come back with the SAR, the PR date is recorded under the 'entitlement' se...

Re: Partner moving to the UK from Netherlands (Pregnant)

If she is a Dutch national (and thus an EEA citizen), she can come to live in the UK without issues. At least for the moment, no one knows what is going to happen after Brexit... She will enjoy an initial 3 month right to reside where she can do what she wants, after that she needs to be a qualified...

Re: British naturalized parents with children born abroad

I don't think ILR would work as they are on the EEA route but wait for someone more knowledgeable about ILR to comment. If both parents are adamant they want to become British Citizens now, the best way to ensure your children remain qualified persons in their own right is to purchase CSI for them a...

Re: Application for PR or PR card: form EEA (PR) - UpToDate

Just to clarify, are you sure it is 180 days absence permitted for exercising treaty right, not 90 days per year? Isn't it 180 for tax purposes? A 100% sure :) It's 6 months a year for PR (or 1x 12 month absence if you have extenuating circumstances). The 90 days is a requirement for the last year ...

What alterhase told you is correct - if you have obtained a Bachelor's degree from a UK university there is no need to take an English test.

Re: British naturalized parents with children born abroad

If they are here as EEA nationals (and not on a visa granted under the UK immigration rules), I believe it is Permanent Residence they need to attain for them to be considered settled. They will need 5 years residence as qualified persons to qualify for PR.

If you have lived in the UK for at least 3 years and have a spouse who is currently a BC you can apply now.
It doesn't matter how long your spouse has been a British Citizen.

Re: Criminal record and British citizenship

Check booklet AN, I believe non-custodial offences have a 3-year 'exclusion period' for naturalisation so if more than 3 years have passed you should be good to go. As above, it is essential that you declare them though. https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/55437...

Re: British naturalized parents with children born abroad

Children who were born abroad need settled status (PR) first, once they have this you can ask for registration at discretion of the Home Secretary using form MN1. Be mindful that once you are both British, you will not be able to act as their sponsor for the purpose of PR anymore as the UK would no ...
