I have looked into Private life route, but wonder if I have a strong enough claim as I have no British partner or child.

I am considering returning to my country of origin but not being able to return to the UK and possibly not seeing my family upsets me, as it is unlikely they will return given they've been away so long and the cost. Without wishing to sound rude - that's a consideration perhaps you and your family ...
