Settlement options for my wife

Hi All, I am seeking clarification about the settlement options that my wife has. I hold a Tier 2 visa, but will be eligible for residency in about one year under the 10 year route. Our daughter was born in the UK, and will be eligible for citizenship once I obtain residency. My wife is a Tier 2 dep...

Child Citizenship to parent obtaining ILR

Hi All, I am hoping to receive clarification about something that I have been given vastly contradictory evidence about. I have a daughter who was born in the UK and is a dependent on my Tier 2 visa. Knocking on wood (there are a few things I am worried about), I will receive indefinite leave to rem...

Change BRP after surname change.

[xposted from tier 2 forum] Hi All, My wife is a dependent on my tier 2 visa and she recently changed her surname to my surname. I am having a hard time finding out what exactly we need to do to get a new BRP (the call centre was less than helpful). On this website: https://www.gov.uk/transfer-visa,...

Re: NHS Surcharge for newborn

Shoot, given she applied just 4 or 5 months later I guess this means she will have to stay as my dependent for a couple years more. I appreciate your help.

Re: NHS Surcharge for newborn

Our migration history is a bit long I arrived in Sept 2008 as a tier 4 student. My wife arrived in Sept 2011 as a tier 4 student. I became her dependent when I finished school in Dec 2013. I switched to a tier 2 in August 2014. She became my dependent about a month ago. Needless to say, the UKBA/UKV...

Re: NHS Surcharge for newborn

Thanks.

That is, my wife could apply for ILR after 5 years with me if I wait a year, but if I apply sooner she will have to wait a lot longer? This is really good to know, thank you.

Re: NHS Surcharge for newborn

Thanks! I did suspect this, what a shame. I will have been in the UK for 10 years in 3.5 years (I was tier 4 before). I hope I can somehow get out of paying for the 4th year for her dependency.

Re: NHS Surcharge for newborn

Tier 2 (General) over 3 years. With 4 years left, this means I would be on the hook for £800 on top of the £1200 dependent visa fee.

NHS Surcharge for newborn

Hi All,

Quick question - I will be having a baby this summer and I am wondering if this healthcare surcharge will apply for her visa. It does seem we are not exempt, but I cannot find any information specifically relating to child dependents born in the UK. Thanks!

Possible mistake on UKVI website

Hi All, I am applying for a Tier 2 general visa and I think that UKVI has made an error (or has an error on their website). I am a tier 4 dependent and sent away my application a few weeks ago. My employer issued me an unrestricted CoS. I phoned UKVI today asking whether or not I was supposed to be ...

Cause for delay in priority application?

Hi All, I have applied for a tier 2 priority visa. From what I can tell, everything should be straightforward and I meet all of the points required for application. However, I received a letter with no information stating that they would not be able to process my application in the 10 workings days ...

Change of surname after marriage.

Hi All, I am a dependent on my wife's tier 4 visa and she recently changed her surname from her maiden name. I cannot seem to find ANY guidance on what steps we have to take with respect to her updating her visa and my dependent visa. I don't know if I am being blind here, but if anybody can point m...

Late Police Registration (and very panicked!)

Hi All, My wife is on a tier 4 visa and needs to register with the police -which she has done when she first arrived and extended her visa. However, we moved addresses and got married and never let the police know. We had no idea we needed to do this - but I today read that we need to (no excuse, of...

Will barely miss the 10 year requirement

Hi Everybody, From what I understand, I can apply for ILR in the UK once I have been in the UK for 10 years. I completed my PhD in the UK last year and now I am currently a dependent on my wife's tier 4 visa. As of now, I have been in the UK for nearly 6 years. Once my wife is done with her PhD I wi...
