Travelling with an Irish passport might bring you less attention (i.e. Brits are disliked in quite a few countries, for obvious reasons; the Irish...not so much). I am sure some countries allow Irish passport holders ...

The situation is funny as it is tragic, since I don't really understand how being away from my family, especially my little girl, would make me a good worker. Under 2004/38/EC, language tests for EU-citizens and their family-members are ILLEGAL. Although not necessarily for naturalisation applications, I think. But back to immigration, one way around the English—Gaelic issue would be to say that a satisfactory knowledge of Gaelic was acceptable: the nu...

Ireland will lose out in terms of international students. They are actively encouraged in other countries. I see countries, such as Australia not only allow a student to work, but will also allow dependents to work also (only 20 hours per week, but that's better than not being able to bring them!)....

This is the vary reason everything is so behind here. I don't think it is so much that they are understaffed, though I'm sure that contributes, but in reality, it's the fact that they don't train their immigration officers properly. The thing that sucks, and if you want them to let you in, you have...

Re: Immigration officer at airport thought I was lying.

Talk about immigration officer not knowing anything about immigration. I had to go through this old guy. He basically told me that I was making up the Stamp 1A for trainee accountants. It took the guy nearly 30 minutes to let me in, and then he gave me a week. When I told him that I was going to pi...
