Re: UK to scrap Common Travel Area with Irl. - join Schengen

I heard this morning on the Radio that the UK will scrap the common Travel Area arrangement with Ireland to introducte the new "E-Border" system in the UK. That means all people will need a Passport to Travel from Ireland to the UK from 2009. Do you think Ireland will join Schengen now? A...

Benifa: if your child is an Irish citizen, I don't see why you would have to do anything to register him. Because he will not be an Irish citizen forever. When my son completes his National Service in Singapore at the age of 18, he will have to then formally renounce any and all citizenship other t...

The Dept/Jus is hiding behind a wall of silence, and their civil servants have no reason to want to increase their workload by actually helping individuals. If they are pushed and forced through sheer volume of activity you can bet that they will get off their collective lazy rear ends and do somet...

The is no border control upon arrival in the UK from ROI. Fly from any airport in ROI and you can enter the UK without any immigration checks. Theoretically, to enter the UK without a valid visa is illegal. In practice, however, there is nobody to check you. My wife, who is non-EEA, and I flew from...

Re: another thing

Did I dream it or I saw that the non eu spouse should have resided legally for 6 months in another member state??? That way, having the French residence card would only help for half of the problem. Would we need to spend 6 months in France before filing the application in Ireland? Or do both in pa...

I'll be joining in to picket the Dail no matter whether this affects us personally or not. It's crazy that the DOJ can discriminate against non-Irish EU nationals and their families. Surely any action of this kind should be taken against all EU nationals with non-EU spouses or no-one. If this actio...

Hi all, I am a bit confused now - I got my Green Card, arrived in Dublin and applied for my GNIB card. The Garda told me that it would be valid for a year and after that I have to renew it again and pay another 100 euro's. But from what I read is that the GNIB should be given for two years. Thnx di...

Well be prepared to wait in vain. Face it the Irish are the most incompetent bunch you will ever come across. I am here 6 and half years and applied about 18 months ago. Still no answer. I applied to move to Canada in meantime. It will take less time to hear an answer. I think immigrants in Ireland...

Current processing time for the LTR has already grown up to 14 months.  :( Currently they're processing the applications submitted on the first week of July 2006. What a shame! Well their policy is that if you have a 'green card' employment permit for 2 years you can apply to the DOJ for LTR. If you're on a work authorisation then you have to wait 5 years before being eligible to apply for LTR. Some people are waiting up to a year to have their LTR processed but even taki...
