Thanks Irishwannabe. Well if this is the minister's decision then we should really beg to question his judgment in serving equal justice to everyone coming from every conner of this great land. So people that have contributed to this society and made redundant to no fault of their own cannot qualif...

Re: GNIB giving us confusion about Stamp 4, help!

So my fiance called the local GNIB to see EXACTLY what I need to bring to get a stamp 4 being a US citizen. They said the marriage cert (of course), our passports and I have to have proof of medical insurance. I'm a little confused about the last one since I have read no where that medical insuranc...

Re: Re-entry visa?

My wife is here on Stamp 4 visa for 5 years starting August last year. She will go back to her home in Taiwan on holidays at the end of March for 5 weeks. I understand she will need to get a re-entry visa before she goes. I was reading through the documentation she needs when applying for the visa ...

EireIreland: you're totally right.. And..People who are just getting the passport in order to leave the country should be ashamed of theirselves. I hope they will be persued by the DOJ for doing that..But that probably won't happen..Unfortunately not.. It's somehow frustrting to have to wait for na...

Re: Jan 2009 Approval

VikingDub: Once again you've joined a thread and your comment seems to be simply belligerent and unhelpful. I absolutely disagree with your point. Your words "remember that naturalisation is a privilege and not a right" are very reminiscent of Minsister O'Dowell's comments in the Dail, wh...

Vikingdub, don't preach us with DoJ's dialogues. This privilege stuff applies to every country but there is something called humanity. INIS is just harrasing the applicants. If you follow your words then don't forget that there are 50K illegal irish in US. Would you like to get them deported and se...

Reading the posts on this forum I get the distinct impression that there is a prevailing "entitlement attitude". Please remember that naturalisation is a privilege and not a right. There are guidelines and criteria for the requirements for an application to be considered, however, fulfill...

I prayed before calling them (believe me, it has come to that... :( ). I asked the usual question 'for the status of my application'. I was told the same old story 'still waiting for Garda clearance'. Then I informed her that I applied in Jan 2005, all additional documents requested of me (i.e. ban...

Citizens of Romania and Bulgaria require a work permit to take up employment in Ireland. Marriage to an Irish citizen would enable him/her to take up employment without a work permit, that would be a reason for a marriage of convenience. If the GNIB decide that the marriage is a marriage of conveni...

Think you just have to go to the GNIB and register, that is how it worked for friends who married U.S. citizens - could be very stress free or they could regard it as a marriage of convenience so it would be best if you can show proof of a long term relationship. Although he is an EU citizen Bulgar...

My uncle in INIS told me. Just kidding. I read it somewhere in the old website of INIS. But I am pretty sure that it exist. The logic is straightforward - If you applied for naturalisation then wait for its approval and get a passport. If you haven't applied bcos you are not interested in bei...

The applications are dealt by INIS (part of DoJ). The garda check is done by Garda Siochana. They are not same department and their IT systems are connected. Deal with any public office and you may realise that 6-8 weeks response time is generally considered good service. :( look. if you are a stud...

Re: any idea

To all 2005-2006 applicants: My guess, is that the "story about awaiting garda clearance cert. " is pure untrue, 90%. A few months ago on EuroNews Programme there was a report about talk between Europe Commission and Irish DOJ, regarding citizenship process, not complying with general reg...
