Submitted application in July and got invited for interview end of this month. But am a bit surprised with this new trend,as I know of someone who went for the same interview this month,and he got detained detained after being asked 177 questions and failing just 5. That leaves me with the question ...

I think excluding weekends min-fri as the case maybe but it's sure a straight forward process.

It takes 72 hours to have it done in HO,after that you have to call to verify it's been changed

Just a question to confirm if the UKBA take into consideration the circumstances of the application on the date it was signed, submitted, and received or when they actually process it (e.g. 3 months later)?

Ok just got a confirmation from HO that I have been issued the short COA after calling them this morning. Reasons because they could not confirm my EEA sponsor exercising treaty right even after we sent all documents required. The man over the phone has advised I write a letter about this. @lunargir...

I think you should probably wait till the end of the week before calling again.
I am currently in the same position as you,I sent my application on third and only got an acknowledgement on 11th so I am hoping the COA comes at the end of the week.
Just to confirm which number did you call?
