thank you for your replies. Is that enough if I send my wife's passport alone not my passport. As I am planning to apply for BC in next few days and I dont want my indian passport struck with UKPS. Your wife's passport with the child's birth certificate is fine. In fact if you have the home office ...

Yes it has to be the same person.

A UK permanent resident permit gives no automatic rights to work in the rest of the EU. He will have to apply for a german work permit like anyone else unless he is an Eu citizen. Basically his stay in the UK is irrelevant for these purposes.

Fillimon is absolutely right. We need to distinguish one's ethnical origin and belonging to a state/country. To call youself ethnical English or just English you have to have many generations of your family living in England (say 300 years or even more).. With respect, if you feel English you can c...

Strange as last time I went they stamped my passport even though I had a PIO card.

I agree ppron - I hadn't thought of it that way. Obviously there is no requirement for a Uk citizen to necessarily have a passport and in that situation the birth certificate would the only way to prove a claim to nationality. Obviously you then have to prove her parents' british nationality in conj...

I think you will need a copy of her passport. A birth certificate is not considered proof of nationality. A certificate issued by a foreign government showing a nationality is not going to be given credence as UK birth certificates do not mention the parents' or the child's nationality. If I were in...

I came to this country with the legitimate expectation of settlement and the benefits that come with it. I pay my taxes and NI, like any other citizen, in that expectation. In return the country gets my skills, experience and TIME, as an HSMP my skills are definition in demand and the price I chose...

there is a mutual agreement between immigrant and the UK country, if they were not needed desperatly then they will not be welcomed at the first place, At the risk of further enhancing my burgeoning reputation as public enemy number one on this thread, I have to point out something. The key issue i...

I am not going to argue with you anymore Lemess , but I really suspect you are writing on behalf of some authorities here because your idea of we- as immigrants have to accept whatever happened to us, is so strong! I would rather use my time to support the action. OK. Just for the record I am an im...

shoegazer, I think your line of thinking is very sound and I can see how a paper like guardian may do a little piece based on the profile of someone caught by this - how the evil HO turned someone's world upside down because he now can't get a mortgage etc etc and that can certainly raise the profil...

I read the guardian post and have some comments. I hate to come across as unsympathetic ( I'm not) but just posting notes on sites bemoaning the fact that you have to wait one more year is not going to attract many people or indeed change anything. Think objectively - why would anyone feel that a hi...

I'm afraid in these cases there have to be some very basic rules which we all have to abide by as it simply isn't possible to have an efficient system that would be applicable to the wide variety of situations that apply to various people. So if naturalisation is important to you, you have to forego...

If you had the power to set your own rate why would you be charging them only £25 at the moment ?
Contractors operate in a free market mate. If you have that much power to unilaterally raise the rates you should have done so anyway !

Guyz - as i wrote earlier; it is gonna be Impossible to reverse the rules....... the best way forward is to 'exploit' the system and benefit as much as you can... forexample if you are a Contractor charging £25/hr - then increase this to £35/hr to take account of the Injustice and inconvinience cre...

I think people are wrongly characterising this as retrospective enforcement which I don't think it is. All that has happened is that the eligibility criteria for new ILR application has changed to demand a longer period of previous residence and the HO ( unfairly) have not given people on the cusp e...

I don't think this is an issue that will grab the papers as it affects only a minority and will not be seen as a big public issue. I don't think this is an issue that will grab the papers as it affects only a minority and will not be seen as a big public issue. The casual british citizen will not perceive this as very draconian or a massive injustice and that will determine how much interest the popular print media will take in...

Yes - I have been in this situation. The only effect is that your naturalisation clock gets set back and to facilitate return it is good to have some demonstration of ties to the UK like owning property, filing taxes etc. should circumstances demand he spends a bit more than 2 years. - Good luck on your application for Canada. I believe it takes 3-4 years for a decision to be made and it also involves you getting police records from all countries you have ever lived in. And the process seems to be getting progressively slower. Compare that to the straightforward UK procedure. A...
