Re: USA UK Settlement Visa Processing Times

So, FINALLY, our application was returned yesterday and the visa was granted. Not knowing what stage things were at or how much longer we had to wait has been the single worst part of all of this. For those going through a similar thing, here's our timeline: 09/04/2014 - Visa application submitted 1...

Re: UK Citizen. US Girlfriend.

I was in a similar situation earlier this year and after several calls to immigration solicitors and a paid consultation, the only avenue was to get a spouse visa. Employment visa's were described to me as a "non-starter". Also worth considering is that our application only came through ye...

Re: Had a decision... But what is it?!

We applied for this visa in March - are you saying there's a chance we'll have to go through all of this again if they don't like part of our documents we submitted???? :S

Had a decision... But what is it?!

After months of waiting for my wife's settlement visa, today we have been told that a decision has been made and the documents and passport are being returned. The email reads: A decision has been made on your UK visa application. Your application will be despatched shortly from the visa processing ...

Re: USA UK Settlement Visa Processing Times

Still nothing yet (now at 19 weeks). The site that gives approximate wait times is still down, but the last time it was up it said that they aim to process 95% of settlement visas within 12 weeks, where 1 week = 5 working days, so there's a good chance you'll be within those 12 weeks. It sounds like...

Re: How do you track your application from St Lucia/Jamaica

As far as I'm aware, there's no way of tracking the status of a settlement visa. My wife is applying for one from the states, which is an identical process to what you have done so far and I have yet to find anything more than that 95% of settlement visa's get processed in 12 weeks from the date of ...

Re: I Want to Marry my American Girlfriend...

Also plan for it to take time. My wife and I applied for a settlement visa for her to come and live here permanently back in mid-April and we're still waiting now.

Re: checklist for visit visa for marriage?

I believe so. You might not need to even have your housing stuff - it depends on if you are planning on also applying for a settlement visa as well as a marriage visa. I did it a little differently as I got married over in the USA where my wife is from then we applied for the settlement visa so only...

Re: checklist for visit visa for marriage?

I believe you also need to provide evidence of where you'll live - be it a rental agreement or mortgage statements. I was advised by my solicitor to provide details of the house as well. That one is a bit trickier, but I had a copy of the estate agent details from when I bought my house.

Re: USA UK Settlement Visa Processing Times

Yeah, sorry, typo. Meant to be:

Application started: 09/04/2014
Biometrics taken: 15/04/2014
Documents received by UKBA: 22/04/2014

Re: USA UK Settlement Visa Processing Times

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I'm aware of the times they quote and was hoping for something a little more anecdotal in the chance there's anyone else here who has recently received their settlement visa in the US. We're clearly not in the 95% now so trying to figure out what's going on (if an...

USA UK Settlement Visa Processing Times

My wife applied for a settlement visa to come and live here in the UK back on 09/07/2014, had her biometrics taken in St Louis on 15/04/2014 and the application was posted off and received by Sheffield on 22/07/2014 which puts us currently at 70 working days waiting time and counting. Has anyone fro...
