Re: Nanny application for ILR

Thank you Cullinan. I appreciate your feedback. I have seen that document and read through.
Do you think there is a better option? If yes, please explain.

Re: Nanny application for ILR

I appreciate all feedback. She has just been to the solicitor's and I have also clarified the exact status of things. She arrived in the UK as a minor and stayed with her aunt who initiated an asylum application for her age 16. Instead of asylum, she was given a discretionary leave to remain for 1 y...

Re: Nanny application for ILR

She has refugee status now? Thats what I was wondering, one can apply for ILR after 5 years on refugee status. What does her BRP state? Refugees do not pay anything and are exempt for English/Life in UK also till ILR stage. She doesn't have a BRP as she has had no need to travel and fell into diffi...

Re: Nanny application for ILR

What visa she currently has? What does her BRP say? Apologies. Correction. Just spoke with her. She is applying for Leave to remain. She last applied for Leave to remain when she was 17 and was granted 2.5 years. All through free legal support while in care. She hasn't applied again to the Home Off...

Re: Nanny application for ILR

Is the visa type? Domestic Workers in a Private Household visa Thank you for replying. No. She came to the UK as a minor to live her aunt who became her guardian. She was taken into care after being maltreated. She subsequently applied for asylum while in care and was granted 1 year. She reapplied ...

Nanny application for ILR

Hello, My kids' nanny has been with us for 4 years. She is planning to apply for ILR and needs my support as a sponsor which I am happy to provide. According to a solicitor, she will need a letter from me stating that she lives with us and that I am providing financial support to her until she obtai...

My uncle was asked to bring all the documents that he used to apply. They are not asking for anything new. The only annoying thing is that they asked him to bring proof of the funds he will use to finance the trip (as I stated in my earlier post). To which I have furnished yet another letter declari...

Hi All, I wanted to update you on a new development. My uncle was contacted by an official from the British HC in Lagos. He has been asked to come for an interview next week. The lady who phoned asked him to bring all the documents that he used as part of his application and some evidence of the fun...

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Yes I would think that your results should be out soon if the duration of ours is a good indication of their overall practice. My uncle told me this week that he had only just received his copy of the appeal. So I would suggest that the delay is about 3 we...

Thanks for your reply. I suppose I didn't understand the interpretation of the legal speak "The appeal is allowed". I wasn't sure whether it meant - (1) The judge disagreed with the ECO's decision but please contact the latter who still may /may not refuse to grant the visa (2) The appeal ...

Hi All, I sent my submission in support of the appeal as I had planned and a reply was received two days ago. The judge's reply began by summarising the history of the case. The most relevant of it that I can post on this forum is as follows - "In this case the burden of proof is on the Appella...

Thanks for your replies. My submission would centre on the following points - (1) The issue of him unable to afford the holiday here is baseless because I am offering to finance it and I can prove that I am able to (financially and accomodation-wise) (2) He has a wife and a 6 year old daughter. He a...

Uncle refused visa. Appeal under way, but help needed please

Hi All, I am trying to sponsor my uncle who lives in Nigeria. However his application was refused on the following grounds - (1) The British High Commission felt that his income was not sufficient (He earns the equivalent of £122 a month working for a local rural bank) (2) He listed me as a cousin r...
