Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

It doesn't matter if councils decide to restart ceremonies because for applications approved since March the Home office hasn't printed the citizenship certificates and posted it to the councils, therefore the councils cannot do the ceremonies for these applicants without the certificates!

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

Councils, like any other workplace, need to be 'Covid Secure'. Unless they've met these guidelines, they'd be hesitant in restarting ceremonies. Some councils have been proactive in making sure they meet the Covid guidelines, some have been pretty slow, which is why we see some councils restarting ...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

I don’t mind waiting if there is a clear plan or even a draft one when ceremonies are going to restart. But it look like ceremonies are not a 1% priority for the HO. It doesn’t generate any money! [/quote] It does actually generate money but not as much as settlement applications! Unless these cere...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

Looks like there was some glitch in these forums as a definitely remember other replies since 22 June. Anyway I called my council yesterday based in Swindon and they said they've been chasing the Home Office for any update on when they might post certificates to the councils for applications approve...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

Yes. Got an email from Cineworld as well and quite annoyed now. There is another news that the quarantine rule will be relaxed in July as travel opens. I really do not understand why councils and HO are the only people who are not willing to world. Called Barnet council today and well they are stil...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

Just got an email from cineworld that they'll be reopening from 10 July, yet still no news on citizenship ceremonies. Its really annoying. Once the ceremonies happen, it'll be another several months before the passport is received. Sorry for the rant. All non-essential shops have opened, even the go...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

I spoke to my council yesterday based in Swindon and they said they have not received any guidance from Home Office to restart ceremonies nor have they received any certificates since March and obviously they can't do ceremonies without certificates. They said maybe since there's a lot of backlog in...

Re: Citizenship ceremony cancelled due to covid

Nope ceremonies aren't going ahead. They're not essential. I called my council today and they said it's too early to say when the ceremonies will resume. And last night's announcement encouraged people to work from home and observe lockdown unless that's hindering essential business activity. I don...
