I had to travel immediately due to some emergency in a family. I have checked through this link my BRP is still active and showing status for work. I didn’...

Re: Urgent Travel information

If OP has received their British certificate, why do they still have their ILR BRP?? That's illegal! The BRP needs to be returned within 5 days of receiving the certificate! OP needs to follow the rules of Britain that they are now a citizen of, they have taken an oath to abide by the rules of the l...

Re: Home Office lost my citizenship certificate

Really pleased to report I received my corrected citizenship certificate at my home address this morning!
I cannot say if the letter to the MP helped 'speed' things up but it took 7 weeks for my corrected certificate to reach me.

Re: Citizenship certificate delivered to someone else

Omg this sounds absolutely horrible I'm so sorry you have to go through this
Please write to your MP asap this is completely unacceptable behaviour on Royal Mail's and HO's part to have been so careless with such an important document that impacts your life

I'm told, if I attend the ceremony then my travel document (ILR BRP) will be invalid to travel and I need to obtain passport before I can travel. Can you please confirm if that is correct.
This is 100% correct and I've confirmed this with the Home Office and my council both

Re: British Citizenship Ceremony Problem

When do you come back from your holiday? If its before end Oct then ask your Council if you can do your ceremony after you come back before your 3 months end But if your trip is not urgent I would highly highly recommend you postpone it and get done with your ceremony + British passport. If you don'...

Re: Home Office lost my citizenship certificate

I still don't have any update of when I can receive my corrected certificate, neither from my MP nor my Council. It's been 7 weeks. If anyone else is in a similar boat, i.e. their certificate is with the Home Office for correction during the pandemic, please let me know how long your certificate has...

Re: Home Office lost my citizenship certificate

Thanks vaza and CR001 I've returned my ILR BRP since the moment I took my naturalization oath and became a British citizen my BRP became invalid. Unfortunately my current passport is not from a country where I can enter the UK without a valid entry visa or residence permit of some sort. I'm not tryi...

Re: Home Office lost my citizenship certificate

No update as yet! I called the HO and they confirmed I cannot travel at all before I receive my British passport now, even if in case of an emergency. They also said they have no idea how long my certificate correction will take since it doesn't have any 'standard processing time' So basically I ha...

Re: Home Office lost my citizenship certificate

My certificate had a spelling mistake. I sent it for correction in January, and then after 1 month or so I sent them a letter asking what is going on. I received a phone call a few days later, where they said that they are sorry for delay and that my certificate is on the way. Indeed, it arrived a ...

Can you basically not travel after doing ceremony but before receiving a British passport?

After doing the citizenship ceremony and before receiving a British passport, are you basically stuck in limbo not being able to travel anywhere??

Since the ILR becomes invalid and you obviously can not travel using the citizenship certificate

(please admins don't merge this with my other post)

Re: Ceremony done virtually, when to return BRP? After receiving certificate or before?

BRP must be returned to HO when you attend the ceremony. That is because you lose the ILR status when you become British and the BRP is invalid :!: :!: That's exactly what my main consideration is as well But at the moment I don't have any proof that I'm a British Citizen until I get the certificat...
