I was just following the advice from the British Embassy, Kiev website which states: "A notarized letter from your former spouse stating that he/she does not object to his/her child/children settling in the United Kingdom with you." If they will be satisfied with sole custody documentation...

We are waiting for her son's passport to be issued in the Ukraine and we are aware that we need a notarised lette...

Many thanks for the congratulations! I believe it is just the legalised (translated) copy of the birth certificate that the embassy has retained. If they wont return it (and we'll ask for it back again), we will have to pay for another copy. It is a good suggestion to get more copies of the original...

Fiancée Visa - Multiple Entry?

I am pleased to say that my Uzbekistani fiancée and her son have received their 6 month settlement visa this week and will come to the UK soon so that we can get married. Many thanks to this forum, especially John, for its advice and the information about producing a folder of evidence for the visa ...

NHS Treatment and Travel when on a Fiancée Visa

When a non-EEA person comes to settle in the UK under a fiancée visa, are they entitled to free NHS treatment during the first 6 months? Are they also able to travel on holiday to other countries inside or outside the EEA during the first 6 months? When the 2 year extension is given to the visa, fol...

Invitation Needed for Fiancée Visa?

I have read through all the UK Visas information sheets and I have not been able to find out whether a written invitation from the sponsor (me) is also needed, together with all the other supporting documentation, when my fiancée applies for her fiancée visa. Does anyone know?

Miraculously, we have duscovered today that the British embassy in Tashkent is now accepting fiancée visa applications. So it is no longer necessary to travel to the British embassy in Almaty, Khazakstan! We have decided, therefore, to go by the fiancée visa route and marry in the UK. Please can you...

My girlfriend regularly calls the embassy in Tashkent for any updates on the reopening of the Consular and Visa saction. I have also called them, but they don't give out any information. The ambassador was withdrawn for some outspoken remarks about the human rights record! We will certainly call abo...

Yes, she has sole custody of her son. I'd assumed that both parties were required at the embassy interview for the fiancee visa. Thanks for this advice, John. I had also assumed that the spouse visa was applied for through UK Visas rather than at the British embassy in the country in which the appli...

John, Thanks for the phone info. I have loaded the free Skype software but we have not been able to try it yet. My girlfriend does not have Broadband and I think the speech quality will not be good without it. I tried the test recording on mine and even that had dropouts. I'm not sure about the call...

We have known each other for 3 months. My girlfriend is divorced and has a 12 year old son in her custody, So I thought this would be a sufficient reason for her to return. Visitor Visa Refused

My Uzbekistan girlfriend has just been refused a Visitor Visa to come to visit me in the UK. I am a Bitish citizen. The reason given by the consul was that he was not satisfied that she would return to her country at the end of her stay. He believed that we would suddenly get married and she would s...
