Re: Here is my English Certificate, please help

Hello, this appears to be a Speaking & Listening English certificate at Entry 3 level. It states it sits in the CEFR band 'B1' which is at the level required for UK settlement & naturalisation purposes. So title is something like: Trinity ESOL Speaking & Listening certificate & Level...

Re: Passport refused - uncancelled passport in maiden name

I anticipate that I will have the same problem when applying for my first British passport. My birth country's passport ( which is blank but valid, it's a replacement of a lost/stolen ) is issued in my maiden name and my naturalisation certificate is in my married name ( although there's an error o...

Re: Citizenship: under 18 and Some Questions.

Ah, I see but I don't really know what the quote means. Could you dumb it down for me? This whole affair is becoming more confusing by the second :( It is taken from one of the guidance documents used by the officials. It just restates that an application for Registration under 3(1) of the National...

Re: Citizenship: under 18 and Some Questions.

I see. Well, I have my reasons and hopefully things will turn out okay. A previous poster mentioned to me that their daughter got citizenship without PR and with both parents not even being from the EU and god knows that must have took time, and stress but hopefully I'll be that lucky too. Thanks f...

Re: Citizenship: under 18 and Some Questions.

So its unlikely that I'll get citizenship if neither parent is or is applying for citizenship? Your application will be discretionary under section 3(1) of the Nationality act. According to the guidance, an older teenager who has spent most of their life in UK might be registered if their future is...

Re: Can child be registered as BC if born outside the UK?

Hi, Can a child 16 years old apply on her own for British Citizenship, if her parents are not applying for BC? All family members are EEA nationals. The family lives in the UK for over 10 years. Father was always working (exercising his Treaty Rights in the UK). Parents will not be able to pass Lif...

Re: Do I need a degree to get citizenship?

Thanks! I already passed the Life in the UK test for my ILR. It should be a very straightforward application then. NCS is recommended for the copying service & as they will then send the package on to the HO themselves (secure delivery). You can track average processing times on the latest time...

Re: If you use NCS do they give you your passport back same

Q1 Yes - NCS copies & returns all your docs including passport. Shop around in your local area, the charge at different councils can vary. Q2 Yes - the ceremony can be rescheduled. Note: there is a timelimit in which to attend a ceremony, I think its 90 days after notification - you certainly ca...

Re: Do I need a degree to get citizenship?

No you don't need a degree for any reason.

And you don't need to prove English proficiency as you are from New Zealand.
(As per previous post).

You will need to pass the Life in UK Test though (& meet all other standard requirements), as per gov UK website.
Good luck.

Re: Passport refused - uncancelled passport in maiden name

Well, I haven't seen yet what we've been sent. And HM PO will still have to agree to accept it. That's not a given. The long-awaited 'Certificate of Cancellation' and my wife's newly-cancelled passport have been received from the embassy. The certificate confirms the passport is not valid and that,...

Anyway, good luck with the Philippines and thanks for keeping us updated. I'm impressed and amazed that they are going along with this (I wouldn't if I were them), and I think you are very lucky. I could find no such equivalent procedure for the U.S. to get such verification. As far as I'm aware, n...

Re: Passport refused - uncancelled passport in maiden name

Update on my wife's case... It's taken 3 or 4 phone calls & 4 or more emails since our visit in person to the embassy on 30 April. There has been a lot of confusion over arranging a Certificate of Cancellation as it doesn't seem to be a regular procedure. Even after the embassy visit and all req...

Re: Citizenship: under 18 and Some Questions.

The application must be endorsed by two referees and a recent passport size photograph. You must write the child’s name and date of birth on the back of the photograph and this should then be glued or pasted into the space provided on the application form. The photograph must show the whole of the ...

Re: Applying for 1st UK passport: send old one?

If applying from abroad the application guide says there is no need to physically submit a foreign passport; copies of all pages may be accepted (with a proviso the original passport could still be asked for). By signing the passport application form the applicant is agreeing (or at least asserts) ...

Re: Biometric Card and applying for citizenship

Hi All My wife is applying for citizenship this month. However I have a question, her Biomentric Card is in her maiden name still. Back in Feb 2015 I got the name changed by deed poll to reflect her new full married name. So her driving licence has her new marital name and bank accounts etc. The bi...

Re: Citizenship: under 18 and Some Questions.

Sounds a very straightforward case Marcin. My daughter was registered in less than 4 months. You can always track currrent timelines in the timelines thread (here in this forum). NCS is around £50 or £60-- (each), well worth it in my experience - the main thing is you get to hold onto your passport ...
