Re: In-country Tier 2 application timelines

Well there is not much I can suggest other than wait but I can see you have waited enough. I hope you get it soon. Just out of curiosity, is your employer well known? Have they sponsored Tier 2 employees before? Hope you have been represented well. Usually they would take longer on an application w...

Re: In-country Tier 2 application timelines

That's a bit odd. Its almost two months since your bio enrollment. and more than 8 weeks since your application which is the usual max timeframe. You should write to them although I am unsure what would it yield. I am waiting for my biometrics in the same switching category. Its unfair to hold on t...

Re: Tier 4 DES switch to 5 year Tier 2

I finally asked for a copy of the CoS from my employer and looks like that the category assigned is wrong. I should be in Tier 2 (General – Tier 4 Graduate switching into Tier 2), but they have put it as Tier2 (General Changes to Employment). Although I am working full time, but I am on a Tier 4 dep...

Re: Tier 4 DES switch to 5 year Tier 2

Hello again, A strange twist. I got reply from my employer. They said that while applying for my CoS they had only two options to choose from, 2 years or 3 year, and they chose 3 years. There was no 5 years choice. Can any one please shed some light on this? As to what could possibly the reason behi...

Re: Tier 4 DES switch to 5 year Tier 2

Thank you, I am in no way arguing against what you have said. I was just emphasising that my employer believes that the CoS can be extended and they did not mean that the visa can be extended if and when needed (this is what I understand from the communication between them and myself). Of course wha...

Re: Tier 4 DES switch to 5 year Tier 2

Also, your employer is right about a 3 year visa being able to extend. The visa can be extended after the 3 years visa is granted, and after you start working. Well, my employer specifically said that the Length of CoS is 3 years and it can be extended. They did not say that Visa can be extended, w...

Re: Tier 4 DES switch to 5 year Tier 2

Thank you, Referring the appendix J, it seems that I meet the salary requirement for experienced or longer than 3 years visa with the relevant SOC code (2112). There are two rates indicated there, when the source is NHS then the threshold should be for Grade 7, when the source is others then it is f...

Re: Tier 4 DES switch to 5 year Tier 2

When filling the cos, the employer has to put in start date and end date. Once assigned, the cos can not be changed or amended. They can, however enter some notes in the cos. I have recently seen a case where the notes were entered to alter the end date by few months (still within 3 months) and UKV...

Tier 4 DES switch to 5 year Tier 2

I have recently received my CoS information to apply for a Tier 2 Visa. The duration of my CoS is 3 years ( although my employer said that they can extend it). The job for which this CoS was issued is full-time permanent and the SOC code on the CoS is for a PhD level job. I completed my PhD in Dec. ...

Yes, it seems that it will be ok, except that I will be under debt to manage payment of the unreasonably monstrous Visa application fees and IHS surcharge (~5k) for my wife and me.

Re: Restricted COS decisions for July 2015

Tier 4 Students almost certainly get Unrestricted CoS allocated to them, on which there is no monthly limit. Hence, graduates would not be part of the June & July peak demands witnessed, although they are still probably the busiest hiring months. Darn!! I have been worrying un-necessarily over ...

Re: Restricted COS decisions for July 2015

I agree with KS227, won't this period also coincide with the fact that majority of people graduate from universities and are applying for jobs? Yes, Most student graduates in June July in England, I graduated in July myself , But that's the thing students do not apply for job when they graduate the...

Re: Restricted COS decisions for July 2015

That makes sense to me. But, there is one more thing, if I understand correctly then the total quota of rCoS is equally divided every month. If the demand is going to be so high in June-July-August, then we can expect the authorities to notice this and adjust the per-month quota accordingly. I think...

Residence permit start date?

Hello everyone, I am filling up the online form for Tier 2 (General) Visa application. Under "Your current residence permit or visa", it asks " What is your residence permit or visa start date?" At the moment I am having a Tier 4 DES BRP, and on it "date of issue" is in...

So basically it means that employer can update address information in their system? Isn't CoS a document of some kind that is issued once and then has to be used for Visa Application?

Certificate of Sponsorship, Tier 2 Visa, & address change

Hello All, I would like to have opinions/suggestions of the board members regarding an issue I am facing. I completed my PhD last year and obtained a Tier 4 DES visa that will last until 07-Dec-2015. Since this visa allows full time work post-study, I started working as a Postdoc in the same lab. Me...

Re: Proposed change in rule - Tier2 dependent work

This development is massively inconvenient and it will be a huge setback. While US & Germany are trying to attract highly skilled foreign workers, UK seems to be going in an opposite trend. I finished a PhD earlier this year after breaking my back for the last 4.5 years in the UK. Recently, I ac...
