Hi,
In my case we sent no pay slips, but a letter from the employer stating that the EU citizen was working.
We had no problems so far.

I am on your same situation.
I have prepared a letter signed by my wife stating that she is on the UK waiting for me.
Also have her phone number, landlord phone number and my wife´s manager phone number....any of then can testify that my wife is in the UK.

they just delay the response and make "mistakes" to make your desist and force -to say so- leave the country.
At least it is my opinion.
If they have 6 months, they will send the response the last day.

I would do so. My experience (you can check it by yourself) is that some places don't even accept a family permit.
