BRP extension - No sponsorship

Hi all, not sure if you remember me from 2015? Some people here told me I had no chance. I fought and I won. I have had my BRP for over 2yrs now and due to expire in May 20th. I got it with a "work permitted" condition. Therefore, I do not need annymore sponsorships but I have defaulted to...

Just wondering GodGives, are you allowed to work or are you working whilst you wait for the appeal? Mine was lodged last week and I am hoping I can work else I ...

Re: FLR(FP) and Discretionary Leave to Remain timelines

Well, that's because I made a mistake thinking that my visa was due to expire in march 2015 when in actual fact it was in 2014... Reason I missed that was because I did not travel/leave the country for years, so my brp was always put away in a safe place. If I'd known better, I would have applied fo...

Re: FLR(FP) and Discretionary Leave to Remain timelines

Hi everyone, So many success stories and positive people on this thread - it is so amazing to read. The solicitors are helping me apply for discretionary leave (FLR - FP). I have gathered as much evidence as possible. Wish me luck! Well done to those that got their visa and keeping everything cross...

Re: Expired BRP - overstayer

Thank you Faelle. I think at the time my employer said that they exhausted the sponsorship - meaning I need an extended visa that does not require a new certificate. Atleast that's what I understood. However, They already gave me a letter to support this application stating that my job was a permane...

Re: Expired BRP - overstayer

Hi guys, I really need some advice. If someone is so kind out there... Anyone who has experience with the appeals, how does it work? Do I stand a chance in winning this case? What can I do to help the situation? My application was made under discretionary grounds - FLR(pl) private life and was refus...

Re: Expired BRP - overstayer

Outcome - a letter to the MP was sent saying I can work whilst this is going on... I received it two days ago. Received a decision this morning, application refused but I was given a right of appeal. Phew! We will appeal obviously. Question is, can I continue to work until a court decision? My emplo...

Re: Expired BRP - overstayer

Just a little update. I was asked to submit my biometrics last week. I am guessing this is just standard procedure? It doesn't mean anything? Shouldn't get my hopes too high?!! I was just so happy to hear from them. The solicitors said to expect a 4-12 week wait for any kind of response or decision.

Re: Expired BRP - overstayer

So the application went in and an acknowledgement has been sent back... Does anybody know how long it will now take to get a decision? My work gave me 4 weeks - such little time to sort things out... Am I able to find out from the HO roughly where I stand or how far they are with the processing so I...

Re: Expired BRP - overstayer

But I've been told that FLR(FP) would not be a good option as I am single and have no children... So my private life is solely dependant on my work and friends...? He said to take the route of applying for DL using the FLR(O)

I appreciate all your help.

Re: Expired BRP - overstayer

I just literally got off the phone with an immigration barrister. He is basically saying that at this point it will be a waste of money to get a specialist lawyer... At the minute the application needs a lot of evidence (work/friends/community groups/MP - letters) and a strong case cover letter expl...

Re: Expired BRP - overstayer

I guess the question would be, will I still have a job here? They might fill my post in a year and I might not get another job in the UK for a while. Don't really know.

Re: Expired BRP - overstayer

Hi, yes, I see your point. I did think of that. But what about my things here? My mortgage/flat? I mean I am sure I can find work back there but it will be a very slow start... It's just, there is a lot to get my head round. After 10 years I literally have no life in S.A at all - it will be like sta...

Re: Expired BRP - overstayer

Hi Mole, the advisors will send in a letter. When it gets rejected they will then take that next step an apply for a JR. They wanted to send in a FLR(O) application but their barrister advised against it. I am not sure what to do next... What are really my chances at this point? Am I fighting a losi...

Re: Expired BRP - overstayer

Thank you Mole. It's really not looking great for me. I been to see immigration advisors. I've never been so depressed and hopeless in my life.

I am not sure what a JR is? In fact, all the acronyms are foreign to me (no pun). Thanks for your help.

Re: Expired BRP - overstayer

Right, the background of my visa was that, in 2004 I was offered a job in the UK (I was in South Africa). Then came over on a 3 year working visa that expired in 2007 which I then extended that same working visa and they granted me the limited to work 5 year residence permit. My work helped me reapp...
