My approval letter arrived this morning, just over 2 weeks from application. This continues the trend of recent NCS submissions reported in this thread. NCS or Postal : NCS If NCS, which centre : Newcastle Date of submission or posting : 02. 03. 2006 CRITERIA - 5 yr stay (4 + 1 yr ILR) : 5 yr stay ...

Re: Married Before? Error on Naturalisation Form?

I just returned from filing my application with NCS. Here's what they said:

1.43 refers to additional marriages, for the person who has been divorced or widowed more than once.

NCS Update: Optional documents

Hi, everyone. I just returned from filing my citizenship application with NCS in Wandsworth. The process was very smooth and efficient. It took about 45 minutes. One interesting point: I brought extra documentation with me -- beyond what is required -- and NCS took photocopies of the documents and i...

Married Before? Error on Naturalisation Form?

Has anyone else been puzzled by question 1.43 on page 5 of Form AN (New)? It says: "Dates(s), places(s) and reason(s) for ending of your previous marriages (if applicable)". The problem: The question is identical to question 1.41. I originally thought 1.43 was a misprint and was meant to a...

"Nothing to stop you claiming JSA now .... assuming that you are job seeking. At the very least that should get your NI contributions credited for the period of claim.

Excuse my ignorance, but how does that work? If I receive JSA, I continue making NI contributions?

Thanks.

FromThere2Here, there should not be a problem here. It is not actually a requirement that an applicant for naturalisation is working, or indeed, dependent upon their category, has ever had paid work in the UK. For example someone getting a 2-year spouse visa, then ILR, and now applying for naturali...

Hi Chess. Thanks for the reply. The problem is I don't have a current employer. I was made redundant a while ago. But I don't have to worry about JSA?

Thanks.

Naturalisation and Jobseekers Allowance

Hello everyone. I just read a posting on a competing web site (not nearly as good as this one!) saying that unemployed people who apply for naturalisation are required to include with the application a letter from their local benefits office confirming that they are receiving Jobseekers Allowance. C...

Hi, everyone. I just took the test at the Great Portland Street centre -- and passed. My experience: I arrived about 15 minutes early for the appointment, waited about one minute, and was shown into an office where they took my 34 quid and checked my passport. (No other ID needed.) The whole process...
