In this case you have a good case. U dont need to appeal, as they have no case to answer. If i were you, i would rather put the whole maintance fees in my account to avoid being technically knocked out.
You might be living on borrowed time as you are not sure what the Case worker would like to determine your application.

It all depends on when your visa runs out before you can talk of changing after April. Moreover, when you got a sponsor through an agent, have you confirmed the authenticity of your sponsor as having eligibility to sponsor a worker. or the agent just collected money from you just for the sake of bus...
