If you've got 12 months visa, and if you are without a job (or offer) in UK - this could spell trouble for you. At the time of exension, you need to show last 8 months earning (of the 12 months) and there's a min. requirement too. So you MUST start earning as soon as you reach UK. If you have ...

You still need to provide evidence that you can "maintain and accommodate" yourself without recourse to public funds.

You should attach your tenancy agreement as evidence of suitable accommodation.

It depends where you apply from and the documentation you provide to support your EC application. It seems that if you apply for FLR (within UK) you get a 2 yr. visa, but if you apply from any BHC overseas (out-country applicant), it depends on the evidence you provide to support your application. A...

Don't worry .. go ahead with your trip to India. Your current visa (WP dependent) will not become unvalid until the date of its expiry or until HO endorses any new visa, which ever is earlier. HSMP approval doesn't necessary mean that you "acquire" HSMP visa. You will need to return to Ind...

The guidelines say that the initial visa / EC might be for a max. of 2 years. Doesn't necessarily mean that it MUST be 2 years and no less. It all depends on the documents (in my opinion - availability of funds) that you provide with your EC application. Search the forum and you'll find many applica...

An acquaintance of mine sent in his application around 15th October and is still waiting for a caseworker to be assigned !!

All the best

Depends on what your definition of "cost effective" is. Travelodge is definitely one of the cheapest places available.

I am not sure if hostel acco. will satisfy an ECO, but this site seems to offer online bookings for hostel acco. in London - http://www.hostellondon.com/

You just stated that you worked part-time, so I thought I should highlight that as a student you can only do 20 Hours per week during semester time :).

As long as it is 20 hours, you have nothing to worry about !!

You need to provide evidence of what you HAVE ALREADY EARNED in the 12 months prior to your HSMP application. In my opinion therefore, 1. Appointment letter will be of no value. 2. Letter from department manager can work if it spells out the details of salary earned in the last 12 months. 3. Similar...

You need to send in a notarized copy of your passport only if you are applying under the <28 years category.

If applying under 28+, no need to send in notarized copy of passport.
