So we are totally off the thread which originally was about how this government has this blinked theory that immigrants generally have know idea of British culture or at least the way they see British culture. They believe they are all knowing and knowledgably. It would appear to me that Ruth Kelly ...

If you were never asked to register with the police then you do not have to worry about it. My visa was ...

Having a Police registration certificate does not mean you have broken the law. Some countries citizens require that they register with the police when they arrive in this country. Personally I think it’s a case of BB but once again is a hoop that we jump through. Once you have ILR you no longer h...

Did you miss my last post, you dont have to give 5 years worth of bank statments. Just take 3 months with you but you dont have to give it to them unless they ask for it. Just show 3 months worth of Payslips

I was in my overdraft, but then so is 80% of everyone in London.

I received my ILR on Friday and when they calculated the days for my appointment they took the date of my visa which was the 27 June. the earliest I could apply was the 31st of May. I did a quick calculation for your case and it looks like you might be one day short before you complete the 4 years 1...

this is a link I found on google, probably best to do a bit more reseach. It would seem Ancestral Visa are fine to use to work in the Channel Islands. So you only need your Ancestral visa and not a Work Permit

There are no work restrictions on your dependant visa. You can even be self employed and you do not have to be tied down to one employer.

I married last year in Feb. and I seem to recall that they did in fact check my passport to make sure I had the correct visa (they do put your nationality into the marriage certificate). You should go to this link http://www.chinese-embassy.org.uk/eng/lsyw/t27086.htm at the Chinese embassy web site....

I think what you are saying is that the employer is thinking of terminating her contract once her WP expires, this is unfortunate. However she does have to prove that her employment is ongoing. Contrary to what I said early she might consider letting her employer know that writing a letter is not bi...

Yes there is no need to renew her WP she will have to request a letter stating that they will continue to employ her once she has ILR. This is just a formality and by no means is she bound to your employer once she has ILR, however I would not let her employer know this until she has the ILR.
