Naturalisation certificate damage applying for 1st passport?

Has anybody had their naturalisation certificate creased, folded, or otherwise damaged by the Home Office or the secure DX delivery facility as a result of applying for their first passport?

Re: British Passport with Naturalisation - Parents Names?

Hi Casa, do you know why the British government demands parents' names on a passport application for those that are naturalised? Looking forward to an informative and relevant response in a topic thread. Let's keep these forum threads on-topic! One can always message a user directly if they want to ...

British Passport with Naturalisation - Parents Names?

Why on earth does the British passport office DEMAND your parents' details when applying for a first passport from naturalisation? This seems like excessive busy-body information gathering that has ZERO to do with entitlement to a passport. So why arrogantly demand information they are not entitled ...

Re: General Discussion During Naturalisation Application Pro

The Home Office appears to have been stamping a date of 31 October 2015 on approvals received this week (including mine). The 31 October 2015 was a Saturday. This leads to two extraordinary conclusions: 1. the Home Office is actually processing applications on the weekend, or 2. the Home Office is f...

Re: General Discussion During Naturalisation Application Pro

Any discrepancies in income declared to HO for your Tier 1 extensions and what was declared to HMRC for tax purposes? During my Tier 1 General extension and ILR application I always submitted P60s as evidence of my income and tax paid (PAYE). I never relied on company earnings. Tier 1 General is th...

Re: General Discussion During Naturalisation Application Pro

British citizenship is a privilege and unlike visa applications, is not a right. 1. one should be informed of an application's progress when they are paying a premium 2. citizenship may not be a right but it is jolly well earned by those of us who have paid significant premiums for many years for v...

Re: General Discussion During Naturalisation Application Pro

If you applied in May, you haven't yet reached the 'standard' 6 month mark after which the Home Office will respond to enquiries. You were fortunate that your MP responded to your request for intervention...usually they advise their constituents to wait until 6 months have passed. If I waited 6 mon...

Re: Thinking About Screwing Up Certificate At Ceremony

Seems that @Siraj ud-Daulah is a hateful anti-Australian dearly beloved. A long posting history in these very forums of hatred and vile statements about a member of the Commonwealth of the United Kingdom. Instead of commenting on issues at hand Siraj ud-Daulah just hijacks threads with utter vile an...

Re: Thinking About Screwing Up Certificate At Ceremony

I have no issue with swearing allegiance to the Queen. I don't know how this thread became all about that. My issue is with the British government officials treating irreplaceable original documentation negligently and with utter disdain. Hence the pragmatic suggestion to crumple or damage the citiz...

Re: Thinking About Screwing Up Certificate At Ceremony

It is often Royal Mail who damages documents.
You can't have been through the visa process yourself and say that with a straight face.

There is a world of difference between something being packaged negligently and damage by Royal Mail.

Thinking About Screwing Up Certificate At Ceremony

How many of us have had our ORIGINAL DOCUMENTATION damaged by the Home Office over the years during visa applications? I had an important original document permanently damaged. And I haven't forgotten about it. So why not accept the citizenship certificate on stage, then crumple it up immediately in...

Re: Australian Spouse visa - advice

I'm surprised your first reaction wasn't utter outrage at the application fee DOUBLING to $6,800+ from $3,085 since last year. Why? Well not to process your application quickly. It takes 12-18 months. So why! To find additional intake of refugees into the country in 2017-18 . That's right - the gove...

There is already a lengthy thread on general discussion during naturalisation. You would have more response if you posted there are it's a pinned thread and active. You're right. But it seems the majority of posts to the timeline threads are complaints about waiting. And I'm sick to death of it. It...

Re: Still waiting for approval? Complain in this thread!

Well I'm frustrated. I applied on 1 May 2015 and I'm still waiting for a brown envelope. I see so many others in late May getting approvals now. Though I know there are others from April still waiting. Sigh. Though I find the inane comments in the timeline threads even more annoying. You want to say...

Still waiting for approval? Complain in this thread!

We need a thread for complaining and expressing frustration/anxiety/sadness while waiting for our naturalisation applications to be decided. The monthly timeline threads are for updates only . Not congratulations, not commiserations, not new questions. But if you've been watching people get approval...

Re: General Discussion During Naturalisation Application Pro

A few points. 1. It is frustrating to see applications at the beginning of the year get approved in 3 weeks or so, only to find myself in a 5-6 month queue. 2. I find it disturbing the British Government require copies of all passports when applying for a passport - even though being a citizen of th...
