Tier 2 (General) visa - processing timeframes, including with spousal visa

I have a couple of questions around the Tier 2 (general) visa for Australians: 1. Do you have any idea of the timeline from employer providing offer of job to time of obtaining visa? Of course I realise this can depend on whether the job has been advertised for a month in the marketplace, but consid...

Re: Tier 2 General - spouse possibilities

PS - there is no age limit for Ancestry visas by the way. Thanks rubyracer2, realise that there is no age limit there, was responding to your earlier comment about the Youth visa which I forget to mention at the time. When it comes to job or business, spouse visa (Tier 2 Dependant) has more rights ...

Re: Tier 2 General - spouse possibilities

I am guessing there is no UK Ancestry for either you (UK born grandparent)?
Unfortunately not. And we are both over 31. I think sponsorship is our only option.
Thanks again!

Re: Tier 2 General - spouse possibilities

Thanks for such a quick response rubyracer2. Would a spouse also be able to start their own business or enter into a partnership with another business, just as long as the primary visa is valid? Not to worry on the 12 month rule - it is almost 18 months since our last visas ended. We have been trave...

Tier 2 General - spouse possibilities

Hi, Was wondering if anyone might be able to provide some information on the rights a spouse of someone on a Tier 2 General visa would have? My husband and I are Australian citizens who were previously living in the UK, both on Tier 2 General visas. We have been traveling for an extended period and ...

Re: UK tier 2 (general) visa - applying from another country

Hi, A further question: Is it ok to return briefly to the UK as a visitor before reapplying for the Tier 2 general visa? The visit will be over 12 months after ending our previous tier 2 visa, but we plan to reapply probably 4-6 months after the visit. I assume (hope) a visit is not considered in th...

Re: UK tier 2 (general) visa - applying from another country

Thanks Casa and geriatrix for your responses. A bit of an inconvenience to have to return to Australia, but so bit it. We will be reapplying about 18 months after having left the UK so no problem on the cooling off period.

UK tier 2 (general) visa - applying from another country

Hi, My partner and I were previously living and working in the UK on a tier 2 general visa. This visa was cancelled when we left for a period of traveling. At a later date, we hope to reapply for our jobs and this visa again, and have a couple of questions around this. Would be great if anyone is ab...

Re: Unpaid leave on a UK tier 2 (general) visa

Thanks manci for your response. Makes it all very clear now.
Unfortunately we are not under 30, so we will just have to deal with the 12 month cooling off period.

Unpaid leave on a UK tier 2 (general) visa

My partner and I are Aussies who are working in the UK on a Tier 2 (General) Visa. We’ve been here for 2 years now, and in 6 months or so, we are hoping to take some extended leave, probably up to a year in order to get married and spend some time travelling. We want to return to the UK at the end o...
