Thanks Mallik for the update. Has anyone else recently applied for SC at cgi, Birmingham via post? I applied exactly three weeks back and nothing yet. No one picks up the phone either. The website says 7 working days to issue SC. It didn't took this long to get my British passport. I applied for SC...

The Q&A documents reads :- Changes to the Settlement Rules to take effect from 3 April 2006 - A question and answer brief [ Ordinarily I would not post such a long document but in view of IND's incompetence at the computer level I feel this is necessary. What is new here John, this looks like H...

I second that.. i think we need to appeal or something... My understanding is - A. For HSMP - it is a route to settlement B. For WP - you will be eligible for settlement if you crossed time window specified at the time of your ILR application, currently 5 years. WP ILR 4 to 5 was lost because the w...

Re: Tier 1

A friend of mine mentioned that the new Tier 1 salary requirement would be £60,000, up from the current £40,000 for HSMP. Can someone here confirm if this is correct? If yes, this would be a significant change! The HO is expected to follow the original guidance note regarding salary range, so not...

The criterion is, 3 full years stay in the UK and settled at the time of starting your course.

Any stay by the way of student visa does not count as your stay. In other words, if you stayed here for 3 years under student visa, you need to wait another 3 years to be eligible for home fee.

Re: Interesting ILR query

I had mentioned(in feb04) saying i was still with the first emPloyer all these troubles would not have come. This could be the reason why you are allowed to continue. HO assumed that you're still with first employer, they only refused changing your job to second employer. Under these circumbstances...

On to your other point - while I do agree that being let go by your employer at the time may throw a wrench into your plans, I maintain that if we are all highly skilled migrants , we should not have too much trouble in picking up a new job in a timely manner. It seems you don't understand the mean...

Still don't agree that this issue will be moot soon. I think the courts will see all HSMP visas before Nov 2006 as the same. Not speaking about the 4-5 year rule. LondonBlonde I agree with you, I don't think the court will divide (pre Nov 2006 HSMP) into groups and deliver ruling differently.
