Re: URGENT! Help getting passport back citizenship applicati

Hi all, I finally got through on that phone line after trying 100times. They are currently working on applications submitted in early April. So I was advised to wait until next Thursday, if I haven't gotten it back by then they said to call them, see where it's at, and if need be, I can travel to Ti...

Re: URGENT! Help getting passport back citizenship applicati

Return of passports after applying for citizenship by naturalisation 5 October 2016 Please allow at least 6 weeks for your passport to be returned. If you think you'll need your passport soon after you make an application (eg for travel), you should postpone your application until you return. Befor...

Re: URGENT! Help getting passport back citizenship applicati

Thanks for your comments. Yes we took the 'can take up to 6 weeks' into consideration, but per our circumstances we needed to take the 'risk' and apply now. Not after the holidays. Is there another phone number or email that actually work? Or is the only way to get it back is via writing? which coul...

Re: Can my Turkish wife apply for Irish Naturalisation?

Wow this is great news! So just to confirm. Your non-EEA wife lived for more than 3 years in Northern Ireland on British visas. But you were able to successfully apply for Irish nationalisation? I know this may be asking too much but could you please explain the process and the paperwork you submitt...

Can my Turkish wife apply for Irish Naturalisation?

Hi all, This is a tricky subject so thanks to anyone who can help me out on it. I live in Northern Ireland and hold both a UK and Irish passport. My wife is from Turkey, and she has been living with me for the past 4 years first on a 'Partner of a British citizen' visa, then on a Further Leave to Re...

Re: Travel from N.I to Ireland for flights. Visa needed?

Thanks All I've emailed visamail@justice.ie and been informed that she DOES require a visa. Dear Jamie, Thank you for your email of 25/02/2016. Although she is in transit to Northern Ireland, she is leaving the airport. Therefore she would require a C Multiple Visit Visa (this will avoid any unecess...

Ok thanks. I know Turkish people do not need a transit visa.

Do you know of any phone numbers I could call to make double sure?

You're advice is much appreciated

Re: Travel from N.I to Ireland for flights. Visa needed?

Transit can be landside or airside . If you intend on transiting and can show the immigration officer that their is a return coach ticket to Northern Ireland , then landside transit is perfectly acceptable. Hi Obie. Are you sure about this? I mean it has worked for us in the past fine, when she was...

Re: Travel from N.I to Ireland for flights. Visa needed?

Thanks everyone. She won't be in transit. From what I understand, a transit Visa is for people flying to Ireland, then moving onto somewhere else, without actually entering Ireland (leaving the airport). From what I have read she probably requires a short-stay multi-entry Visa. Which is completely b...

Travel from N.I to Ireland for flights. Visa needed?

Hi, My wife has an 'indefinite leave to remain (FLRm)' visa and a UK biometric residence card. She is living in Northern Ireland with me. She wants to go to Turkey on holiday. She will travel from Belfast, (Northern Ireland) to Dublin Airport (Ireland) via car for her flights to Istanbul and then ba...

Re: Help for British/Irish living in N.Ireland with Turkish

I believe both options can be exercised, provided you renounce your British citizenship before you initiate the process. Remember that your wife's clock will be reset and she will be able to earn PR only after five more years. Thanks for this. I understand that I have to renounce my British citizen...

Re: Help for British/Irish living in N.Ireland with Turkish

In order to exercise your Irish citizenship and get your wife as an EEA citizen, you would need to renounce British citizenship . Dual citizens are treated as purely British citizens within the UK. Other users, such as chaoclive have done it. Obie has opined that the Good Friday Agreement allows No...

Help for British/Irish living in N.Ireland with Turkish wife

Hi, I am in need of immigration advice and help. My wife is from Turkey, I am from Northern Ireland, we married in August 2012, (in Turkey) and applied successfully for a 'Partner of a British citizen' visa in September of 2012. It was granted in March 2013. Her British visa will expire in December ...
