Update: It is now 6 months since I made the application on 1 August 2015. I just spoke to UKVI on the phone today 8 Feb 2016, this is what they tell me: The application normally takes upto 6 months, after the 6 months they can't tell me how long it will take after that. What is your timeline like? If you arrived in 2005 and got ILR in 2010, it sounds like you applied for asylum almost straight away. If you were eventually granted leave to remain (and if you made appeals in time), then you weren't here illegally. The catch is that you have to had applied for asylum...
