Re: Financial Requirement question

Thanks for all the advice. I'm aware of the Surinder Singh route. I think the easiest route will be for my wife and I to bite the bullet, have some time seperated and apply for residency once everything is in place. My wife got the visitor visa when our circumstances were different. We never intende...

Re: Financial Requirement question

If she were to return for a period of months (2-3), would something like that affect the decision? There must be similar cases where families are seperated but can't meet the financial requirement straight away. These regulations are so cumbersome it's beyond belief really. I guess I'm just going to...

Re: Financial Requirement question

Our situation is complicated - we intended to come come back for 3 months just to visit my sick mother. Because of her health primarily, I didn't want to return to my wife's country of origin and decided it would be best to settle here with my wife and daughter. I found work, my wife was planning to...

Re: Financial Requirement question

Is there somewhere to find out about visitor visas on the forums? My wife's visa will expire at the end of Nov, what's the earliest she can come back to the UK on a visitor visa? The government website isn't 100% clear.

Re: Financial Requirement question

Ok, that really throws a spanner in the works. I hadn't read the regs properly and I can see it does state that if you haven't been employed for 6 months I need to provide 12 months of payslips.

Time to look in to Plan B, just hope it won't come to that.

Financial Requirement question

Hi all, thanks for your help so far with my previous questions. I have a query about the financial requirement, I unfortunately may not be continuing in my current employment due to a change in circumstances. To ensure that I don't have gaps in my earning for the 6 months leading up to applying for ...

Re: Join Family in the UK - Spouse Visa

Just thought I'd quickly come back to this post with a few more queries. As my parents are offering our accomodation when my wife first comes across do I need to show my birth certificate to show that they are my parents or will a declaration to that effect be sufficient. Also just to confirm, I onl...

Re: Join Family in the UK - Spouse Visa

Thanks Casa, all very useful information. I'm sure I'll have more questions as the weeks go by but I think you've answered them all for the moment.

Re: Join Family in the UK - Spouse Visa

Hi Casa thanks for confirming that. I thought I would need the employer's letter, and it's good to know I can scratch my birth certificate off the list. Regarding certification of passports it's not entirely clear whether they can be done via the post office, need to be done by a solicitor. Do you t...

Re: Join Family in the UK - Spouse Visa

I believe I have all the finances worked out. My wife is applying, my daughter is British so won't affect the equation. We need £18600 if I'm right.

I'm aware that the savings need to be £16,000 + 2.5 x the difference between my salary and £18,600.

Re: Join Family in the UK - Spouse Visa

It's correct that I'll be meeting the financial requirement by both savings and earnings - the cash gift will have been on my account for 6 months at the time of application so that shouldn't be an issue.

Join Family in the UK - Spouse Visa

Hello all, I have a few questions - my wife will be applying for a visa to live in the UK with my daughter and I and I wanted to ask advice about the documents I intend to supply in support of the application and some procedures. - Firstly my wife will be applying from Peru which uses the electronic...

Re: Should I apply for an FLR (O)

Thanks very much for the speedy replies, everything seems quite hard to fathom and getting advice is tricky. One final question, the £18,600 a year earnings level, do I have to be earning that for a set period before we apply or is a contract and a few paychecks sufficient.

Re: Should I apply for an FLR (O)

Thanks for your prompt reply, I thought that would be the case. When I said permanent settlement I meant a spouse visa, there is a 2 year route for settlement isn't there? Can you help out with another question, my daughter is 2 and a British citizen - the financial requirement remains at just £18,6...

Should I apply for an FLR (O)

My wife, daughter and I recently came across to the UK to visit my sick mother, my wife came on a family visit visa. Now I'm in the UK I think that it's best to settle here so I can be close to my mother, unfortunately by the time my wife's visa expires I won't be able to meet the 6 month financial ...
