Just thought I would update this thread in case there are others in the same situation - my husband and I travelled from Geneva to Milan with relative ease. The train stops at the italian/swiss border allowing guards to enter the train and pick people at random to show their travel documents. On the...

Thanks for the above links, which I have printed off and will defontely whip out if stopped. It's frustrating that we should have to do this, our only crime is that we would lke to spend a day in italy and the embassy want us to literally jump through hoops to get a schengen visa which wouldn't be s...

Yes, he's looking to get married in the UK since his fiance has no family in poland anyway so I guess the first thing he needs is to apply for a COA in order to get married. So it seems like applying for the EEA permit is not an option since he is already in the UK and would probably be better off a...

Thanks for your replies guys. The friend in question has been in the UK for just under two years. He and his fiance would ideally like to marry in england, but are unsure of what the procedure to do so would be and what to do afterwards. To add a spanner in the works, his fiance has just found out t...

I'm posting this on behalf of a friend of mine who is currently in the UK from india on a work permit visa, due to expire sometime in 2008. He and his fiance, a polish national, intend to get married in the next few weeks but he's confused about what happens with his immigration status.. Does he hav...

Swiss/ Italian border immigration controls.

My husband (residing in the UK on a two year spouse visa) and I (full UK citizen) are going to geneva for a week in january. My understanding is that my husband does not need to apply for any additional visas to do so. We were thinking about taking a day trip into italy while we were there, and sods...

My husband recently travelled to france with me on a schengen visa issued by the belgium embassy as they were the only ones who would issue the visa by post. We had no problems travelling in and out of the country at all even though we had a whole story ready, haha.

Sorry to bump up this old thread but could someone just confirm that if my husband, who is a pak national and residing in the UK on a two year spouse settlement visa, visits geneva then he doesn't have to apply for any additional visas?

Yeah, silly really since it's hardly as if bournemouth is that close to london. i thought as long as you lived outside the M25 then you could make a postal application. Anyway, looks like I will have to go in person, just got to figure out how to navigate the site in order to book the appointment on...

Thanks for the replies guys. I might try applying through the french embassy since I recall seeing day return trips to france for around £10, which will still be worth buying just to get the visa as travelling to london, taking time off work etc would cost far more. Apart from anything else, I trie...

Schengen visa for Italy - postal application query

My husband needs to apply for a Schengen visa as we intend to visit Italy sometime in the immediate future, however I notice that the Italian Embassy in london doesn't accept postal applications and we live around 120 miles away from the embassy. Is there any way round this? Could we make a postal a...

Second applicatiom was pretty much the same as the first but obviously I really concentrated on providing evidence to refute the point of refusal - as we hadn't provided any photographic evidence of having met (never mind the fact that my passport showed my dates of entry to and from pak and that my...

Looks pretty comprehensive to me and pretty much what I also submitted for my husbands application.

I trust that the marriage certificate is the original nikkahnama and also the attested translated version?

Same thing happened to my husband and I with our application - the absence of wedding pictures seemed to be the main reason for refusal (also got married in peshawar so maybe it's a local thing, haha). We filed an appeal but decided a fresh application would be quicker and we were right - it was pro...

They can issue the visas quicker than the 12-13 weeks they state which was the case with my husbands application and I know of several other people who have had similar applications from Islamabad processed within a few weeks so it looks like they are finally catching up with their workload (either ...

I don't think there is any specific guidelines on how it should be worded, as long as you cover all the points that irfan mentioned. Doesn't have to be anything officially worded.

Pardon my ignorance, but when you come to submit your next application (I doubt you can just transfer names) won't you need to provide some evidence of your previous marriage having ended in official divorce?

You can get it translated at most advocate offices.....there's plenty of places near the Fed Ex offices where you can get it done there and then when you go to submit the application. Word of advice - get an extra translated and attested cos you never know when it'll come in handy at a later date :)

I thought they informed applicants right after the interview too but perhaps it depends on the ECO and/or the BHC and also depends on the points that they needed clarifying.

Good luck:)

You don't need a certificate if your parents own their own home.....just the title deeds to the property and a letter from them stating that you and your spouse can live in their home with them. You can include photos of the room(s) you propose to occupy to strengthen the application. If your parent...
