Thanks for the advice guys, looks like I will apply for the category C visa instead then.

One last question......can I do it all by post or do my husband and I both have to go to the irish embassy in london to apply in person? Will we get the decision the same day?

So you mean that officially you would need to apply for a schengen visa to travel to ireland - although it is possible to enter the country without one but there's no guarantee that you will get away with it? Also, which I'm on the subject of schengen visas....is there such a thing as a getting a mu...

Schengen visa needed for ireland?

Aplogies if this has already been asked as the search I did didn't seem to give me the information I wanted. My husband is here on a two year settlement visa from pakistan. Can he travel to Ireland (just for a long weekend break) on his current passport and visa or will he need to apply for a scheng...

Yes there is.....fed ex have an agreement with most of the embassies (I'm referring to the situation in pakistan here but presume it's similar elsewhere too) where they act as a contact between the embassies and the public in order to stop people going directly to the embassies. In theory it's a goo...

Anyway I just wanted to post about my situation so that oth...

Try to be positive rainbow......you never know it might actually be processed sooner than the 12 weeks (which i can say now that my husbands application was processed in 9 weeks from Islamabad). I'm sure you have a strong family network who can support you when you give birth, I know it's not the sa...

I agree 9 weeks is pretty fast considering they say 13 weeks and tend to take the full 13 weeks, which we had prepared ourselves for considering that we already had an appeal pending etc etc. Although the BHC in islamabad won't answer any queries on the status of an application before the 13 weeks, ...

See my other thread for details.....but basically the outcome is that the second application has been granted and my husband now has his visa. We will withdraw the appeal now obviously as we don't need it anymore.

Just thought I would update you guys on the status of our visa application....... We applied and got refused our spouse settlement visa application from Islamabad at the beginning of this year and filed an appeal in March. However as the appeal process was turning out to be quite a lengthy process w...

With regards to the letter from the Jobcentre....if you don't get anything in the next few days then it's probably worth actually visiting the branch and getting them to do your letter for you there and then - be insistent! I had a lot of hassle getting my letter and kept being passed from dept to d...

Probably not for ages......when we filed an appeal the ECO was given until 14th September by which to file. After which date the AIT gave them ANOTHER deadline for filing the bundle which was the 16th November (tomorrow). And I assume that now we'll finally get a hearing date which will probably be ...

Where did your husband take his papers to be checked? Cos I gotta say, in pak there's a lot of people that offer to check over applications for a fee and a lot of the time they give incorrect advice. You can't get one standard letter to say that you are not in any receipt of benefits, you'd have to ...

Not sure about the answer to your tax question, I would have assumed the payslips would suffice? I thought once you won your appeal and the 28 days deadline for the BHC to appeal the decision were gone, then it was just a matter of getting the visa issued in the passport.

Didn't realise it took so long after winning your appeal to get your visa in the passport though?
