Hi All, I have recently aquired BC without applying for retention of Citizenship from the RSA home office. My Current RSA passport has expired and as such I am no longer able to renew it. Will I have any issues entering the RSA on my British Passport, or am I required to prove my loss of Citizenshi...

My brother is in the British army - he is a SA citizen. Being my half brother is doesn't have any connections to the UK at all. There are loads of foreigners in the army as they find it difficult to recruit.

Re: Immigration through military service

Is it possible for Commonwealth citizens to enlist in the British armed forces in their own countries as a way of emigrating to the UK? There are quite a few people that are doing this, however, I know that countries such as South Africa are stipulating that you HAVE to get permission from them to ...

Me thinks that someone is looking for free labour to subsidise their failing community services!! This is an outrage. Already a legal immigrant has to keep a job and support themselves without recourse to public funds, yet pay taxes, fair enough, I accept this, however, where does he think...

Re: ILR as a dependend when over 18 years of age.

Could you please advise on my situation regarding Indefinite Leave to Remain. I am currently 18 and will be 20 when I will apply for ILR as a dependand. I came to the UK at the age of 15 (in 2003) as my mothers dependand. I have been studying at a school for 3 years and I have secured a place at a ...

The advice John gave is correct. When I contacted the Child benefit department to find out, I was told that I could claim even though my husband did not have settlement at that time. I was able to claim child tax credit, but had to name my husband on the forms, as they want the total household incom...

To be honest, when my hubby went to get his visa, I found it extremely strange and unsettling that I never had to be with him. I thought the rules very relaxed. He could have had anyone's passport with him and forged documents. While it is a 'schlepp' that one's spouse has to be with, I feel that th...

From yesterday's BBC1's Panorama, you can get any EU countries passport for a price £650-£1000 and one can enter UK with those and can claim benefits!!! This is state of Home Office and they are just screwing up legal highly skilled immigrants!!! Shame!!! And it's going to get worse. The British pu...

you have settled status and are no longer subject to immigration control I beg to differ - ILR holders are subject to immigration control. They cannot stay more than 2 years outside of the UK, and are not able to use the EU/UK queues at airports. Everytime they come back into the UK they will still...

As far as I am aware, their visa are invalid because they came here as dependents on a HSMP visa, since you have settled status and are no longer subject to immigration control, the basis for their visa is now non-existent. If your family have been in the UK for 3 years, I think your family can appl...

The article you are referring to is the European directive on long stay people of third citizen countries, it is by far a more fair system then the UK one which is a 10 years of continues stay. I am in a similar situation as you, however I was on an AV dependant visa before switching to a WP so I h...
