14 Years ILR

I came to UK as a student in late 1996. Got visa renewals upto 2004.I applied prematurely for ILR in 2004 after being advised that I can get it after being here for 7 years. It was rejected and permission to appeal also rejected. Stayed on because I have an adult son who is British (born here when I...

:) I know someone who got sent a questionnaire. He kept a copy of the completed form; I will ask him to let me borrow it; I will block out his details and try to send it to the admin, by Royal Mail as I am not clued up on sending things through emails. Give me a few days to get to him and see...

Legacy Cases

There is news that a new directorate is being formed in the Home Office/BIA to deal with the huge backlog of cases awaiting decision. Could anyone shed any light on what it is all about? The Home Office is adamant that it is not an amnesty move. :?

I am so glad for you. :) Even though he overstayed and had convictions, you still got through, this goes to show that once you put your evidence in a convincing manner and have faith, God will smile on you. I hope you settle down and enjoy your life together.

I take this forum seriously as I have some outstanding, important issues for which I try to get tips to solve. I was taught that it is rude speak to another person in your language when others in the group don't know what you are saying. If I am too sensitive about this type of behaviour, then so be...

 Could the moderators please remind forum members that English should be used for posting information/comments. :? Those of us whose first language is not English, know we would always get replies from the experienced members, whose knowledge transcends broken/limited efforts at the language. ...

Could Oracle16 please post with his responses if he has been onto the Home Office with his matter. I am in a similiar situation and am desperate to know what the mood is like in Croydon on these long residence matters. :(

This is Janit here. I have never received a reply to my questions. I was also refused ILR after 8 years and told to go back. I appealed to them by letter as there is no form to apply on asking them to review my case on compassionate grounds last year (2005) and have not heard from them since. I was ...

Our friend HernanCortes sent in for renewal; no reply to date. Does this mean after all this time he is considered to be an illegal/overstayer? Is it his fault staying here whilst waiting to hear from them for all these years?

This is a definition of an overstayer from the Home Office's website: Overstayers 1. An overstayer is a person who was granted limited leave to enter or remain in the United Kingdom, but who neither left the country on the date indicated nor asked for the leave to be extended. I was never given a da...

Does any one in the know have any view on my case? I have had no reply on the review which I sought last year for ILR on compassionate grounds. Someone told me that seeing that the review is taking so long; it means I am an ovestayer/illegal immigrant because my visa expired whilst the review is sti...

Could someone clarify the differences between: 1. The issuance of an intention of notice to deport (who gives it?) 2. The intention of notice of removal (who gives it?) 3. Letter saying 28 days to leave the country and who follows through to ensure it is complied with? Are they one and the same thin...

I am a bit confused. Moderator, or anyone who knows for sure, please clarify: If a person gets ILR on the basis of 10 year long residence and is not married to a British citizen, can he/she the ILR person, apply for naturalisation within a few days of getting ILR? Or does he/she have to wait for a y...

Stay with my adult daughter, a British citizen who is settled here in a good job; I am under 65 years old and my marriage had not broken down yet; it now has and I have no one to go back to; hence the request for a review.

ILR Review; desperate for help

I will be 10 years legal stay in December. I applied for ILR in 2004 (too early) and was refused, appealed and also denied. I asked for review from Manager of the Refusal Department at HO since June 2005 but no reply to date. My papers are in the HO, my leave has expired and my status is in limbo wh...

Dependent ILR

My dependent and I will have 10 years in December; we have never travelled out of UK since. He is no longer a minor but HOffice has been renewing his stay with mine since he was 12. I was refused ILR when I applied prematurely and has asked for a review which is pending since June 2005 as I have no ...

Long residence ILR

There are many ILR based on WP,but could anyone who recently had ILR based on 10 years give their experience? :? Does the HOffice routinely give it if no complications in the applications? :? How long do they take to consider? I am a student coming up to 10 years in December. :?
