Re: Told ineligible for ILR, 6 years as of Oct. Options??

@gratefulhart: Thank you for taking the time to reply. @iworker: Well, the problem is the 250 days I mentioned is just one of the periods that I've been outside of the UK. 250 days roughly from summer of 2014 to summer of 2015, but the reason I cannot split up the 250 days is because if I put some o...

Re: Told ineligible for ILR, 6 years as of Oct. Options??

Hello again, I see no one has responded to my posts :( but will post a follow-up question here to avoid cluttering the boards. I sent my employer an email regarding this 6-year rule and they came back to me with a link on the Government website that states: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/immigration-ru...

Re: Told ineligible for ILR, 6 years as of Oct. Options??

Apologies, found a typo.

and the fact that I'd gone over 180 days doesn't necessarily make not 'ineligible'

=> doesn't necessarily make ME 'ineligible'

Told ineligible for ILR, 6 years as of Oct. Options??

Hello, I posted a few months ago to get advice about obtaining ILR status, was advised that I wouldn't be eligible, but now there is a new curve-ball so am seeking further advice. Sep 2015 marked 5 years for me in the UK, but because I hadn't kept the 180-day rule and there was no way for me to dist...

Re: Validity of Tier 2 visa if I quit my job

Thank you CR001. Much appreciated. Though a slightly different topic, I'd like to ask a question here rather than opening up a different thread if it's okay. (If not, I will move the post.) I read the following regarding extending your visa. How long you can stay You can apply to extend your visa fo...

Re: Validity of Tier 2 visa if I quit my job

Ah, yes, I knew that. I realized I'd misunderstood the '60 days' to be the period I can be in the UK as a tourist. I realize the previous reply meant that I'd be given 60 days to leave the country on my Tier 2 visa? Is this correct? So, in sum, 60 days for me to remain in the UK under my Tier 2 visa...

Re: Validity of Tier 2 visa if I quit my job

Hello, Thank you for the reply. Okay, assuming that my employer sends the notification immediately and they process it immediately as well, I'll go by 60 days to be on the safe side. So this means from the official date of leave I'd be able to stay in the UK for 60 days as a tourist. But I guess thi...

Validity of Tier 2 visa if I quit my job

Hello, After speaking to an agency my employer works with and also getting advice on this forum, I recently found out that I will be eligible to apply for residency only in 2020 (i.e. I have to wait another 4-5 years than my theoretical eligible date) because I've spent just way too many days outsid...

Re: Tier 2 - Am I eligible to apply for ILR?

Thank you for the explanation about the 'work permit' term. :) And also thank you to OR for the links. I've decided to email the person recommended in one of the three links you provided. It seems in her/his case she/he split up 320 days over 2 years, so that is doable and not an issue, but wonder h...

Re: Tier 2 - Am I eligible to apply for ILR?

I see; I had missed the fact that you were out of the UK quite so much during 2014, in addition to the 170-day absence during the first half of this year. Yes, unfortunately, it looks like you will need to wait almost another 5 years before you have five consecutive 12-months periods with not more ...

What do you mean? Are you saying I'm not a work permit holder? I am. I'm on a Tier 2 General Visa which I believe is a work permit, is it not?

Yes, I'm using a spreadsheet that ignores the departure/arrival dates.

Re: Am I eligible to apply for ILR status? 5YR WP

Thank you. I will (and am looking at it now). But, I think it's difficult because basically from (for example) 12 December 2013 - 02 December 2015 I have been out of the country is 444 days. So that's 444 days during TWO 12-month periods (I'm aware it doesn't need to be 12 months from Jan-Dec). So i...

Re: Am I eligible to apply for ILR status? 5YR WP

Hello again,

Thank you for the reply. Yes, I just noticed the removal of the company name and will be mindful of it in the future.

I will choose a couple of dates (i.e. one in Feb and one a few months down to line) to get a better idea and post again.

Re: Tier 2 - Am I eligible to apply for ILR?

Hello again, I think the reason reference to company name removed by mod are saying I need to wait another 5 years is because they tried to spread my days (mostly because of the 170 days during the first half of this year) and found that the first 'travel year' where I have 180 days or under is 2015...

Need to wait another 5 years to be eligible for ILR :(

Hello, I'm writing (like many others here) to see if I can get advice on my (potential) ILR status application. Mid-September of this year marked 5 years in the UK (I'm here on a Tier 2 - General visa sponsored by my company). I've been travelling extensively (especially during the last year or so) ...

Re: Am I eligible to apply for ILR status? 5YR WP

Hello, Thank you for the reply. Okay, maybe I didn't make myself clear and I apologize if I didn't. :) Basically, by the time I actually take the Life in the UK Test, get all documents sorted, etc. and then apply, I think my days out of the country will exceed 180 days (mostly due to work). Will I s...

Re: Am I eligible to apply for ILR status? 5YR WP

Hello, Thank you for the replies and sorry about catching up so late. Yes, I'm aware it's the past 12 months and not a calendar year. I'm just confused because some people are saying as long as I can prove that I was out of the country for more than 180 days DUE TO WORK. In other areas I'm finding i...

Tier 2 - Am I eligible to apply for ILR?

Hello, I've just signed up here because in a couple of weeks it will be 5 years since I arrived in London for my job. I hadn't really looked into the ILR details until now (and I realize I should have done so earlier!), but better late than never I guess. :) I have a Tier 2 - General visa sponsored ...
