Ease of immigration to countries in Europe and N. America

As someone who finds UK immigrations rules incredibly complex, covering every conceivable eventuality and ever changing (there must be a large army of civil servants full time on changing UK immigration rules and on a monthly basis!) I often wonder if the UK is about the most difficult or time consu...

Re: Sponsorship and spouse visa

Cheers. I will tell her. I know this query has been answered before, and I have repeated it to her. So not need to answer this, unless I have it wrong. But the residency rules for the 5 year route spouse visa are quite liberal. She has a lot of emotional and family ties to Moldova, which is why it k...

Re: Sponsorship and spouse visa

Sorry for the delay. But today she confirmed that when she applied for the visitor visa, she told them she was coming from Moldova to the UK to be with me as her husband and to see where I live and my region of the UK with me. I recall giving them a letter of invitation for the visitor visa. Will th...

Re: Sponsorship and spouse visa

I did give her the information, yes, and a letter. But I need to get back to be sure. I do remember we both got a bit confused after we married about some passage on the form and it was almost sent out with the wrong section filled out (not with the wrong information).

Re: Sponsorship and spouse visa

I think so but I need to double check. The reason is that she started filling it out before we married. Then it was delayed for one reason and the other. Then we got married in Moldova, then after we married she completed the form.

Re: Sponsorship and spouse visa

I'm not sure now what she put on that part of the visa, it was back in the summer of 2015, and for one reason and another, for example she then had to get the supporting documents, it wasn't sent until later. I am fairly sure she said she was coming to see her spouse, but I would have to ask her. Do...

Re: Sponsorship and spouse visa

Hi Casa. No, I was giving you three questions or points in the same message, rather than sticking to the one topic or question. I know about those diferences. OK, the most important question in the message is about the sponsorship issue. It says on the list of requirements (documents) that the spons...

Sponsorship and spouse visa

Reading the Gov.Uk website, it mentions that in some situations I might have to supply a sponsorship form to get my spouse from Moldova into the UK. Does anyone know if this is something I need to bother with? She is coming here in April for a few weeks on a Visitor Visa (AKA General Visa). To meet ...

Re: National Insurance numbers and working in UK

Whern I formulated a plan to live in Moldova, I thought that the fact that relative to the ordinary Moldovan, I was quite well off would protect me from all the troubles and problems of the place. Not true. Many people there work illegally to avoid paying taxes (perhaps like Ukraine) since they simp...

Re: National Insurance numbers and working in UK

Yes, I understand. Because of the pro-west government in Kiev. My wife has a friend living there, whose English is quite good. What we are trying to arrange is this. I bought us an apartment in Chisinau, the capital city, last year. It is a lovely place and properties are considerably cheaper there ...

Re: National Insurance numbers and working in UK

There are good things about Moldova, which is why I did seriously think of moving there and renting out my house here in the UK. I found her family and friends very supportive and especially with her family, there is a strong feeling of solidarity you get that I just don't find with my own relatives...

Re: National Insurance numbers and working in UK

Moldova. I was thinking of living out there in 2015, operating with my Moldovan spouse an online marriage service (we were married in Moldova - I assume the marriage is recognised in the UK). There are a lot of lovely women who live there, no doubt many of whom would love the chance to come to the &...

Re: National Insurance numbers and working in UK

Good ideas to put to her. I know one UK guy whose wife, who he married over there, gave up looking for paid work in the UK after a time. There is no doubt for the average immigrant, the transition is not easy, especially from outside the EU and with no UK jobs sponsor. In his case, his wife gave up ...

Re: National Insurance numbers and working in UK

This is the link these days: https://www.gov.uk/apply-national-insurance-number I think that we will have to get an Action Plan. She comes here in April on a Visitor Visa. She cannot then work, but I have a few people lined up so that she can get careers advice and a taste of a local English course ...

National Insurance numbers and working in UK

I hope to bring on a spouse visa, from outside the EEA/EU, my wife to live here in the UK with me later this year. I had an interesting chat with my local JobCentre. They said that she can apply online from the Gov.Uk website, for a national insurance number herself, in case she wants to work (being...

Re: Financial Requirement (cash savings)

Thanks again. I understand they are different creatures, the two visas. But she needs to know that for the spouse visa, she cannot delay using it by much, since she needs to come here within 30 days of receiving it. So she has to be ready and prepared, as I do, once it comes. With the visitor visa, ...

Re: Financial Requirement (cash savings)

Okay, I just added something else to the post thanks. "So the situation is this. The visa she receives in her country when she applies for the "join a family member" visa is only valid for 30 days. So when she receives the visa in the post, she has only 30 days in which to use it (ie ...

Re: Financial Requirement (cash savings)

Cheers. I gather that a spousal visa is officially known as a Tier 1 (General) visa ? Where I support her for 5 years and she has no job to come to the UK to do. Where her only "asset" is that she is married to me. So the situation is this. The visa she receives in her country when she app...

Re: Financial Requirement (cash savings)

Thanks again. I will ask her how long it takes over there. She has bank accounts, a driving license and as few other things in her maiden name, so it depends on how long this would take to organise to change. But from the viewpoint of her application to the UKVI for a spouse visa, this name change p...

Re: Financial Requirement (cash savings)

Thanks. I would have to check the other query, no problem. One complication is that her passport is still in her maiden name, since she's not had the chance to change her last name to mine, which we eventually want her to do. We only married a short time ago over there. She filled out the visitor vi...

Re: Financial Requirement (cash savings)

She has a UK visitor visa that she wants to use before it expires in early June. Then, because she cannot have two visas running at the same time, she will shortly thereafter apply for the "join a family member" visa. Are the supporting documents she has to supply the same for both visas? ...

Re: Financial Requirement (cash savings)

And my spouse living outside the European Union? To her to apply for the "join a family member" visa, to start the settlement process to reside in the UK with me this year. Does she have to also show UKVI her bank statement, indicating the money she has in her name in a bank over there? Pe...

Re: Financial Requirement (cash savings)

Thanks again. One statement dated under 28 days from the date of application and that covers the whole 6 months period, and that it stamped by the bank, etc. is sufficient.

Re: Financial Requirement (cash savings)

You mean one statement each month for the 6 months? A statement at the end of 6 months will show the transactions for that 6 months period without having to give them 6 separate statement? In other words, it will cover the full 6 months (and cover more), so what's the point? This is a nuisance since...
