Re: Supporting docs spouse visa

From the feedback over the last day or so, it comes across to me that what is considered as "adequate" in the way of supporting documents is subjective. It depends on whether there are complications to the application that really need to be explained. And how much the applicant himself or ...

Re: Supporting docs spouse visa

One of them was that I was originally thinking of possibly living with my wife in Moldova. So we spent quite a lot of time testing whether it was better for me to live there or for her to live in the UK with me. So I made a number of visits over there for this purpose. This year, we finally decided ...

Re: Supporting docs spouse visa

I agree. For example I know one of your posters listed in the supporting documents he was going to give them all his skype call logs (presumably printed out). Now, I have screenshotted some of my own for this purpose. But I cannot really believe that ECOs have the time or interest in reading (in har...

Re: Supporting docs spouse visa

But where there are complications, you need to be able to explain them (without emotion) and the boxes on the visa itself simply don't have the room. There are cases on this forum where visas have been delayed or even rejected because they did not give a better account of what's going on. And I was ...

Re: Supporting docs spouse visa

As I explained, there are a few complications to the spouse visa my wife (the applicant) will make out. However, there are what I consider to be quite powerful reasons why these would not be a barrier to her receiving the visa. But they need to be explained, obviously, to the ECOs. I imagine through...

Re: family settlement visa

That I did not know, thanks. As some may know, I hope this year to have my wife in Moldova come here to join me. There are a few complications to this which means that the application is not entirely straightforward. Thus what is supplied in the supporting documents category. The advice I received w...

Re: family settlement visa

Getting a bit confused here. As I understand this case, the required supporting documents were not all submitted with the spouse visa application form. Because of the missing documents, the visa was refused. At that time the ECO told the applicants which documents were missing. The applicant decided...

Re: FLR M B1 level will be acceptable or it has to be A1 lev

A couple of years ago, I was looking at these settlement language exams and the situation then was quite confusing. Since different examination boards gave their exams different "titles." So what Trinity classed as A1 another board might label as something else. I don't know why the UK gov...

Re: Brexit better for non-EU migrants

It may be right that they will impose the present tough immigration rules on EU nationals also. Who knows? But if this is the case, the EU might demand off the UK government that before it will conclude trade agreements with the UK in future, it should stop giving its own people this hassle to get i...

Re: Supporting docs spouse visa

So the advice is to supply all that you have, in hardcopy. They only object if you supply too little and not too much.

Supporting docs spouse visa

Regarding the UK spouse visa. I've been reading the posts on supporting documents. There are two queries I have: First, in the case of things like Skype call logs, or emails, do they all have to be printed out for the ECO to read? Remember that in the case of Skype calls, you are talking of in exces...

Re: Brexit better for non-EU migrants

You mean if they can get into the UK? I think there is an argument there. As they often cannot claim UK benefits for 5 years after they come here, they might be tempted to look for work in the UK paying lower than the rate EU immigrants (who get these benefits) would accept. On the other hand, non-E...

Brexit better for non-EU migrants

Most of the attention has been on EU citizens, who may lose some of their present advantages in moving from one country to the other. However, for those wanting to come to the UK from outside the EU, Brexit may be a blessing. One of the reasons why the UK government is continually looking for new wa...

Parts to spouse visa

I'm a little confused over the content of the spouse visa. As far as I can see there are two parts to this procedure. The applicant (in my case living abroad) fills out form VAF4A (FAMILY SETTLEMENT APPLICATION FORM) I, as her sponsor (her husband in the UK) fill out Immigration Directorate Instruct...

Re: Spouse visa refunds

Understood, and normally an immigration lawyer service would be advisable to handle any appeal, I assume. On the issue of, for example, insufficient material supplied with the spouse visa in the supporting documents category. There may (noting the complixity of some of this) be a document they need ...

Re: Spouse visa refunds

Thanks again for the swift replies. I suppose one of the few "good" things about a refusal is, I understand, that they have to give the grounds of the refusal. They have to usually be specific as to what is missing. Armed with that information, I imagine a second attempt would be successfu...

Spouse visa refunds

If the application for a spouse visa fails, do they give the applicant a refund of the money they paid out? I believe this is currently £1,195 plus the Health Surcharge. Or if you fail to get the visa, do you simply lose this money?

Spouse visa - use of immigration lawyers

Regarding the completion of the spouse visa for family members outside the EU and EEA. The form is long and quite complicated in places. If there may be a complication, therefore a potential problem, with one of the questions in the form, would you recommend the initial use of a professional UK immi...

Re: Visitor visa and travel insurance

Sounds good. I thought buying comprehensive travel insurance for her in the UK would be easy, but as she is a non-UK resident, is does not seems to be the case. Most policies say she has to be a UK resident.

Re: Visitor visa and travel insurance

Hi Casa Hello. I mean the type of travel insurance I take out when I go to Moldova. It also covers cancellation, a delayed flight, a missed connection, possibly a loss of baggage or property related to a flight. As well as payment of emergency medical bills, which the Moldovan variant only offers he...

Visitor visa and travel insurance

Although I believe there are travel insurers that will do comprehensive travel insurance for my wife in Moldova, they are expensive. She comes here on a visitor visa the last week in April. I think a company called Nomad offers travel insurance for non-UK and non-EU residents like those in Moldova, ...

Re: public fund

With out knowing the exact immigration rules, I was told at my local JobCentre that if my wife came here on the spouse visa, she could not sign on as seeking work. They only, at the Job Centre, deal with people getting UK state benefits, which she will not for 5 years. Further to this, I was told th...

Re: Sponsorship and spouse visa

Thanks. There were a number of posts on this, but I do recall one of those replying making the "6 months a year" claim. Page 26 of the Immigration Directorate Instruction Family Migration Appendix FM Section 1.0a gives the case where "the couple have spent the majority of the period o...
