Re: REFUND OF IHS payment

You're right. I just phoned the post office. If she had her biometric information taken in Moldova, which I believe she had to consent to in order to get the spousal visa, this will not apply. Pity the post office video overlooked this.

Re: REFUND OF IHS payment

Yes to the 30 days (I've been on this forum long enough to know that one (LOL)) But no there is no barcode on the letter, which is the issue. And the UKVI 11 letter only says she needs to bring that letter with her and her passport with the spouse visa and the vignette. They (unlike the post office)...

Re: REFUND OF IHS payment

Hi guys, Thanks for the support. We have chatted, my wife and I, since this and we have now agreed that she should make the effort to live here in the UK with me as her husband. So there is no estrangement. Like many new immigrants, she was (and to a degree still is) somewhat concerned about what fu...

Re: REFUND OF IHS payment

The problem is that I think she wants to remain in Moldova. I don't want to explain the reasons, though you might guess a few possible ones. There is a huge split because of all this, and frankly I feel like I have wasted the time of a lot of people.

Re: REFUND OF IHS payment

Her personal situation has dramatically changed since the visa was issued. I am not a happy man at all about this (my many posts being made precisely to get her this visa), but there is now no chance she will use the visa before 14 November, when it was issued to. Or probably within any extension pe...

REFUND OF IHS payment

My wife from Moldova received the spouse visa a week ago. However, because her personal circumstances changed, she is now not going to use the visa. I assume I don't (as the person paying) get a refund of the cost of the visa. But the IHS - she never used the NHS, clearly. How do I get a refund of t...

Sorry, a short time after I posted that message, I tried to delete or edit it. But it would not let me. There seems to be a time limit within which this is possible.

Re: Spouse visa and visits abroad

Appreciated. As a Moldovan citizen, she is entitled to visa-free travel within the Schengen Zone. However, she cannot visit here, Ireland and a few other countries outside the Zone in Europe without getting a visa. So this limitation will always apply to her, even after she gets ILR? Unless she appl...

Spouse visa and visits abroad

If a person gets a spouse visa, then wants during the 30 months to FLR to visit outside the UK, how easy is this? So she has the UK short term settlement information inside her passport. This allows her the SAME rights as a UK citizen to travel abroad, does it? So, for example, she can as easily go ...

Re: English test requirement A2 now?

Also sorry to butt in. But once my wife gets the spouse visa, she will eventually need to take this A2 English language test. There is a local course that runs English classes that give certificates organised by CITY AND GUILDS. The question is whether these City and Guilds certificates awarded by t...

Re: Pension of EU citizens after Brexit

The problem of UK state pensions being frozen in value if you go to a number of other countries outside the EU has been a standing complaint of those from the UK who have retired to places like Canada, Australia and New Zealand. There is even a website devoted to their cause to extend the EU type re...

Re: UK Spouse Visa Leaving UK

Cheers. The page is number 30, and it asks "Please provide details of any periods of absence of more than six months during that time." On the previous page, it asks the applicant how long they have lived in the UK. So this asks the applicant if she has been away for up to 6 months on any ...

Re: UK Spouse Visa Leaving UK

OK, in this case the spouse visa is not listed at all in the document so far as I can see. My understanding was always that under the spouse visa system, the applicant (wife) was permitted to leave the UK for up to about 6 months (others proposed that 5 months is better, just to be safe) in all of t...

Re: UK Spouse Visa Leaving UK

My own interest is because my wife has applied for a spouse visa and the ability of her to leave the UK for periods with it is something she asks me about. As I said in the post, I know that tighter rules apply for UK citizenship, but she is not interested in that. According to the Home Office's doc...

UK Spouse Visa Leaving UK

Can you please clarify this. So far as I understand things, the applicant (using initially a spouse visa, later TLR visa) can leave the UK for up to 180 days in each of the 5 years to ILR. This 180 days can be used up in one visit out of the UK or on a number of visits abroad. Unless they want UK ci...

Re: Refused - UK Entry Clearance

Just to agree with this statement as a general proposition, "It would have been quicker to reapply than wait for an appeal. Appeals can take very long." I am still waiting to hear about the verdict on my wife's application under a spouse visa regime. However, the feedback that I get is tha...

Re: UK spouse visa checklist help

Sorry about interjecting, and it may not apply here. But in the category of "forms" I needed to submit these forms/emails/receipts to the appointment centre: Printed copy of VAF4A Appendix 2 of VAF4A Immigration Health Surcharge reference number and IHS payment confirmation Visa4UK Appoint...

Re: Spousal visa issue

I also have a similar general problem. The ECO guidance rules on the net allow for discretion in the application of some rules. Although this is sensible, it means that in specific cases you have to try to "second guess" how they perceive a problem or issue with an applicant's visa, and th...

Re: UK spouse visa -return of original supporting docs

Cheers. As the applicant lives in Moldova, as you know by now, they should be returned there. What surprises me is the in the case of a visa rejection, would not UKVI want to keep a copy of the supporting documents? In case of an appeal, so they can look back as to how the original decision was arri...

UK spouse visa -return of original supporting docs

Once the UKVI has made a decision on a spousal visa application, do they then return to the applicant all the original supporting documents they were given? And how is this achieved?

Re: Spouse Visa Cover Letter

Speaking from personal experience, I also know that the categories of supporting documents you may construct, to order list the documents in some sort of "logical" order, are probably not going to be the same categories that UKVI use. The application centre in Moldova was grateful for the ...

Re: IHS confirmation and Biometric receipt

This week, I paid the two sets of fees (IHS and visa) and the information from the appointment letter was read. The upshot is that this list should be correct, at least for Moldova: Printed copy of VAF4A (dated and signed) Appendix 2 of VAF4A (inlcudes Financial Requirement) Immigration Health Surch...

Re: IHS confirmation and Biometric receipt

Ah, I see. Yes, I have the appointment receipt. What baffled me (and I read about this bio receipt on the internet) was that until my spouse first takes the biomateric proceedure in the appointments centre, how is she supposed to have the receipt? To show them when she goes to the office for the app...
