Re: Best time to change wife's surname - which is the minimum hassle option?

Thank you both...I will wait until all is done and dusted and she has her passport, then as Vinny said, might not even do it at all to save any hassle (she's a traditional gal at heart, so we'll see how that goes).

Best time to change wife's surname - which is the minimum hassle option?

Hello all, I'm a British citizen and my wife's ILR application is now in process (submitted 10 Apr 2021 and finger prints taken 7 May). As she has been physically in the country since 16 June 2016, my attention is now turning to final stage for her getting British Citizenship (after ILR is achieved)...

Re: New online FLR(M) form - my experience so far

This thread has been very useful, we have been holding off starting the application until the 28 days starts, but from what I've read here we can get most of the application filled in before that time? And submit once the time comes ? Exactly. That's the information I was missing, how far in advanc...

Re: New online FLR(M) form - my experience so far

They ask for copies of sponsors passport - each and every page... I did add page separators for each section ... Accommodation, Financial, etc I saw that in the previous notes, say, for paper form and in the guidance, but it wasn't specified in new checklist. All I can see is "evidence of spon...

Re: New online FLR(M) form - my experience so far

Good morning, I am wondering if I must copy all the pages of my passport? Even the blank pages? Do I need barcode separators to organize my supporting documents before posting them? I must admit I wondered that too. It didn't ask for it in the checklist, but as I'd already done (including blank pag...

Re: Evidence: original or copies

Hi - just submitted the online application form and done my biometrics at the post office. This is for FLR(M) first extension. Question: at the bottom of the checklist it says "From the 5 November 2018, you will no longer need to submit passport photos with your application and any evidence yo...

Re: New online FLR(M) form - my experience so far

In case people were still doing it, from Nov 5th 2018 no longer need to submit passport photos (it explicitly states this). I didn't see anywhere that passport photos don't need to be sent??? I have them so will send them with the docs. At the end of the process it asks you to download and print th...

Re: New online FLR(M) form - my experience so far

Thanks for the update, there are certain places you have to tick otherwise you own't go forward. I would recommend you to write the detail in your cover letter what you wish to explain... good luck... Thanks, will do. After discovering that I was forced to tick these documents, I went back to the a...

Re: New online FLR(M) form - my experience so far

Right, I've finished the form now, paid the IHS and fee, and just need to submit supporting documents. Happy days. A couple of other things I've gleaned: In case people were still doing it, from Nov 5th 2018 no longer need to submit passport photos (it explicitly states this). Still have 15 working ...

New online FLR(M) form - my experience so far

Hi all, Just an update on what I've found then using the new Online FLR(M) form. I have to submit in a few days time, so spent the weekend getting through the form up until the point of Payment. First thing I saw, as this was info I was trying to find, is that from the moment you start the form you ...

Sorry, terrified of ILR Shortfall...need clarification

About to do my wife's FLR(M). I was searching posts and came across advice like "you should apply as close to your visa expiry date to avoid ILR shortfall". Yikes! Based on the timelines I'm putting below, can I apply on the 30th Nov or do I need to wait until after 3rd Dec? Visa Granted =...

Applying for FLR(M), potential future ILR shortfall?

Hi all, Wife got first spouse visa and arrived in UK 28 Apr 2016. She stayed for 2 weeks and went back to Uganda to care for our son until his British passport came. They both made it back on the 17th June and have been here since (no holiday). Her VISA expires 31st Dec and we're just about to apply...

Re: Correspondence Letters - final check before submission please

Actually, to make it easier I think I've whittled down the list to the following (still more than requested, I guess): Joint Correspondence (new address) 2 x council tax bills March 2017 & March 2018 Water Bill = 18 June 2018 First Direct Bank letter 3 July 2018 I will also be submitting 6 x joi...

Correspondence Letters - final check before submission please

Hello all, Just 3 weeks before my wife's spouse VISA runs out on 30th Dec, I will be submitting her FLR(M) application. Pretty much there, but think I have far too much correspondence evidence (can one have too much?), so was wondering if anyone could check the list and give me some pointers, please...

Re: Applicant and Sponsor letters for FLR(M) - key differences?

You need to simply complete the form which asks all these questions. No need to duplicate it all with unnecessary letters. The 2 years cohabitation documentation is what is needed to prove subsisting relationship etc. Thank you, it seems like I was overthinking things. I was looking at the letters ...

Re: Applicant and Sponsor letters for FLR(M) - key differences?

I was going to separate all of the documents I need into 5 sections and write a Table of Contents for it: Are you applying by post?? Yes. I was going to complete the form online, print it and include it with the other documents by post 1. Applicant's Documents (applicant's passport, 2 x photos, Engl...

Applicant and Sponsor letters for FLR(M) - key differences?

Hello everyone, Just in the final stages of preparing my wife's FLR(M) spouse visa extension due Dec 2018. Aside from searching in this forum, I've been using a useful website called xxxxxx. The key bits from their website they say I need are the 'Applicant's Letter of Support' and 'UK Partner's Let...
