If you cannot advise or even lend a constructive comment, could you please at least refrain from making such flippant comments? OH cmon it was a joke, and it was obvious. I could very well say, if you are so clueless blah blah blah Not all of us are immigration experts like you are! That is why we ...

Its all very confusing but I think the home office will only consider the FLR date while counting the 5 year period for ILR.

I am in a similar situation with my work permit issued on 7 November 2002 and the FLR issued in-country on 16 December 2002. I have been told by this forum and the home office that the 5 years are calculated from the date of the FLR and not the work permit issue. My current leave to remain expires o...

ILR

Hello Tamzin I am in the same boat as you. I came to the UK in August 2002 from the US. I was offered a job in the UK and applied for a work permit. The work permit was issued on 7 November 2002. Even though I was on a visit visa, the work permit explicitly stated that I was allowed to work. My empl...

Any news from Mr. Kong? I think any legal action will depend on what has happened to the judicial review?

Liam Byrne's reply to Jim Cousins re: ILR

I have copied and pasted a Q&A from the www.theyworkforyou.com which refers to the written answer given by Mr. Byrne to Mr. Cousins, Labour MP on 4 September 2006 . Any of you still waiting for Mr. Byrne to change the retrospective rules should read this and see the writing on the wall! "Ji...

A11....I do not think you should give up now. I know you have all worked hard and to give up now will be defeatist. You will understand that a forum is for voicing opinions and you of all should not be disheartened by this. I am sure everyone here commends you and the founder members of VBSI for put...

miffedyankee, Witness...... a bunch of doctors dragged HO to the court, they never had any VBSI and guess what they nearly have the positive result in hand. The "bunch of doctors" have an association-BAPIO established a few years back and not formed AFTER the rules were changed like the V...

first2last4......First of all, let me make it clear that I am not a member of the VBSI! It is very easy to say that VBSI has not been productive! These are immigrants like ourselves who have taken the initiative and the time to give this this protest some semblance of organisation and progress. Also...

ILR Changes

That was helpful rooi-ding ! The problem with funding the legal action is that even though lots of affected people are willing to contribute, they do not know whom/where to contribute to ! The BAPIO is a well established organisation with lots of members and members do not hesitate to pay up. I agre...

IAS Conference

I was just speaking to a friend who works in an immigration consultancy. The y have received a letter from the Immigration Advisory Service inviting them (and friends and colleagues) to the conference to be held at Regent's College in London on 24 July 2006. Full details on www.iasuk.org. Liam Byrne...

New EDM

I was just checking the new EDM tabled by Andrew Dismore. It is worth noting that out of the 33 signatures, as many as 27 have been signed by Labour MPs. This does show that not all ruling party MPs are necessarily in favour of the change in rules. I am wondering which way this will go if there is a...

Missed ILR

My case so far: • Arrived in UK on 28 August 2002 from the USA. • I was offered a job in the IT field and the work permit was approved in November 2002. • My passport was returned with 18 months leave to remain endorsed on 16 December 2002. • In March 2003 my work permit was extended until 31 Octobe...
