What visa would my mum (German) need to move to the UK?

Hi all.

I am a German / British dual citizen. My mum has recently been ill and I would like her to move to the UK to live near me and my family. She has no support system in Germand, and doesn't work so this would be no issue.

What visa should she be applying for, post brexit?

Thanks

Re: Applied for citizenship over 6 months ago - no contact or confirmation from HO

Yes I have held PR for 1 year prior to applying for citizenship.

My question is not related to my eligibility, it’s related to having heard nothing from the home office.

Re: Applied for citizenship over 6 months ago - no contact or confirmation from HO

I'm posting using my partner's account. She will be applying for citizenship herself in 2 months' time (gained settled status 10 months ago).

I hold an EU passport and have normally resided in the UK for 6 years now.

Applied for citizenship over 6 months ago - no contact or confirmation from HO

Hi there I applied for citizenship (enrolled biometrics and submitted paperwork at a UKVI office). I haven't heard a peep from HO since, no emails, no letters, nothing. It's now been over 6 months, and I'm concerned reading the timelines thread that people get their acceptance letters within 1-2 mon...

Unmarried partner EFM RC getting married

I currently hold an unmarried partner extended family member residence card, and am getting married shortly. I’m considering applying for a EEA family member RC once this happens in order to better protect myself from Brexit. I know indications are that EFM will be treated the same as FM, but you ne...

You need 5 years on your EEA RC, counted from the date the RC was issued as you are unmarried partner.

No difference if you are married, you still need 5 years on the EEA route. Your previous visas don't count for PR under the EEA route.
Thank you - very helpful!

Can I apply for PR at the same time as my EU partner?

Hello there, I (New Zealand citizen) currently have an unmarried partner RC via my partner (EU citizen). I was previously on a Tier 5 visa (1yr), then a work sponsored visa (3yrs), although I believe my IDLR 'clock' has reset each time. I've had the RC for almost 2yrs now. My partner has now been in...

Re: Applying for EEA Extended Family Member while on Tier 2

Hi Londonquestion, I've just finishing the last leg of the process going from Tier 2 to EEA-EFM (kiwi with German partner). My Tier 2 will expire just before I get the response back on my RC. My employer has immigration lawyers who advised that they can confirm my right to work while my application ...

Re: Very specific timeline question - Tier 2 extension

Hi for anyone who is curious on how this was resolved: My employer (an global company) had their specialist immigration lawyers advise: They said if you are currently sponsored by the company, then the employer is able to use your CoA letter as your right to work (even though the CoA letter under EE...

Re: Very specific timeline question - Tier 2 extension

Look, if your EFM is solid it should be just under 6 months, although of course one can't tell with the summer surge. It may be worth it writing to HO to explain the situation, engage someone who can write intelligently to management or has some contacts, or at least make a fast track SAR a month b...

Re: Very specific timeline question - Tier 2 extension

Or do I need to apply and or be at a premium service appointment before the 5th Feb? Date of application is the date of your appointment. if I apply for a 3 year visa extension, can I pay the NHS surcharge for the first year only? No, you have to pay for the full 3 years. Or otherwise get a surchar...

Very specific timeline question - Tier 2 extension

Hi there, I am currently on a Tier 2 sponsored visa, and have recently applied for a RC under EEA(EFM). I applied for the RC on the 5 Aug (received 8 Aug, payment 11 Aug, COA dated 6 Sep), so looking at timelines there I would expect to get my letter of approval/rejection in 6 months, or early Febru...

Re: Switching from Tier2 GM to EEA spouse dependent

Hi, You don't need to 'renounce' your Tier 2 at all. The EEA(FM) is a completely separate track that allow you to enter and work in the UK. Technically, you are already automatically entitled to enter and work being the spouse of an EEA national. But, employers usually want to see proof by way of th...

Re: Switching from Tier2 GM to EEA spouse dependent

Hi, You need to apply for a Residence Card as a Family Member of an EEA national. You'll find this referred to in this forum as EEA-FM. You can find instructions here: https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/528255/EEA_FM__06-16.pdf To be clear this is not a visa, b...

Not everyone receives emails, some hear very little.
I see, thank you for explaining, and from the acronym busting up front. Acronym meanings would be great to include in the board's FAQs too, for newbies like me :)

Thanks, although I am interested also in what the email in the timeline refers to. Am I meant to send an email around the 1 month mark, or receive an email? What is the purpose of the email?

Timeline jargon - what is "email to EEA" or "email to QP"

Hi board,

I'm confused by some of the lingo being used in posted timelines in the timeline thread.

Around 1 month after application, some people are posting a date that an "email to EEA" or "email to QP" is sent. What does this email refer to? What is QP?

Many thanks

Re: Tier 2 extension - how late can I leave it?

Thank you Char.

Do you know if extending my visa for 3 years, I also then have to pay for the NHS surcharge for the full 3 years also? Could I pay for one year and subsequently pay the other 2 later (depending on whether my EEA-EFM is granted?
